I stayed in this villa with my mother (70), my teenage daughters and a friend. We could have fit many more! The word "spectacular" is not even enough to capture the view of the caldera from Villa Michaela. You truly have to experience it to understand. And the house is not "stingy" with the view. There are so many places from which to enjoy it - from the comfortable furniture under the pergola by the pool (and from inside the pool itself) from the master bedroom, from my mother's bedroom and the porch outside my daughters' rooms. Actually, that porch had a beautiful view in the opposite direction, too! I wiled away many hours just watching ships come and go. Everything in the house is spotlessly clean and tasteful, and we had everything we needed and more.
Having never visited Santorini, I worried we might feel out of the way in Akrotiri, but I would stay there again in a heartbeat. First, the island is not that huge, so nothing is very far away. There is a store and nearby restaurants, and it's a short drive to Perissa and other good beaches. Perissa is closer to Akrotiri than Oia. And we had no problem zipping into Thira (which is totally overrun with people from cruise ships - you would NOT want to stay there) and to Imerovigli and Oia. The owner of the villa is wonderful. He even made us baklava! I've had a lot of baklava in my life, but this was far and away the best. We had an issue with our rental car, and he dealt with it immediately. He gave us a phone with his number stored, so we could call any time. We felt wonderfully cared for, very comfortable. And we were in paradise!
