Description
The Turkey House is designed by the same architect Michael Kelly for the award winning The Cow House set in the grounds of June Blake's Garden also. It is a 2 bedroom holiday house. Several years ago four projects were imagined within Tinode House's virtually derelict nineteenth century farmyard buildings.
The first to be constructed was The Cow House which was selected as the RIAI Best House in its' 2014 Awards.
The second was completed in 2016 and is called The Turkey House as turkeys were raised in what had formerly been the stables.
The double height entrance hall has a dramatic cast concrete stairs which leads to the living accommodation on the first floor.
The main shower room which is extensively lined with white glass and floored with black stone mosaic is located here.
Elsewhere floors are polished cast concrete made with local granite sand and aggregate and white cement.
Openings formed in original granite walls to facilitate the new layout are trimmed with blue brickwork.
The former stables at ground level have been subdivided by a new 'spine wall'-a curving partition made of Douglas Fir and plywood.
The larger bedroom has an en-suite shower room which is extensively lined with white glass and floored with black stone mosaic.
It is furnished with a double bed, a recessed storage closet and a free standing bath.
The smaller bedroom is furnished with a double and a single bed.
The living accommodation is located at first floor level is one large open space that accommodates the kitchen, dining and sitting room functions.
A new blue brick wall element has been inserted which functions as a space divider, a back panel for the wood burning stove and a structural element.
It supports the laminated timber ridge beam which spans the length of the space. One stainless steel framed and double glazed lantern and two roof lights light the space.
The circular gable window had been extensively altered to form a direct access from the outside.
It has been substantially reformed but now as a 'key hole' window. Blue brickwork clarifies the latest alteration of original granite walling.
The floor is made of Douglas Fir.
The existing granite walls on the north and east sides were lined internally at both levels with 144mm wide stacked Douglas Fir sections, with 40mm insulation and a 30mm cavity.
The remaining granite walls have been grit blasted and left essentially as found.

“Best Accommodation and Service”
Turkey house is an amazing place to stay. The house includes 3 bedrooms, Having Awesome Sceneray over Balcony. Garden was having excellent greenery.

“recent break”
we had a fantastic time on our recent break in wicklow.the turkey house provided a perfect base to explore county wicklow although you would be forgiven to stay put in the beautiful surrounding of the turkey house.June's garden provides the perfect back drop to the modern architecture of the turkey house. we were made feel very welcome and felt that if there was anything we needed help with(from directions to stair gates! ! ) all we had to do was ask. Dara and June were always just a shout away but yet we felt that they never imposed. we would love to return at some stage to check out the new tea rooms and eoghan(aged 9)has already informed us that we should stay in the cow house on our next visit so he can decide his favourite.

“Wonderful house and garden”
Stayed in the Turkey house in July , the house is a fantastic conversion of an old farm building. Gardens are a delight to behold , such wonderful colours and shapes. Very easy to get into Dublin city. Ballymore Inn worth a visit , great food

“Beautiful and relaxing setting”
June and her family were wonderful to rent this vacation rental (holiday house if you are from across the Pond) Very easy to rent and they were a joy to deal with. They really went above and beyond. The only downside is on my part, I wish I would have arranged more time to spend and explore, explore the gardens, the Wicklow Mountains, several of the walks June recommends. We were only able to do one, the trail to the Miners Village on the Upper Lake. The house was adorable and kitchen was very nicely stocked. I would definitely recommend this house and would absolutely stay here again if the opportunity presents itself.
