Ballagh Court

Wexford cottage

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 4

“We found distant relations and made new friends in County Wexfor” We rented a cottage at Ballagh Court in order to search for the Irish ancestors left behind when my great-great-great-grandfather Moses emigrated to the United States. Ballagh Court placed us in the seat of the Delaney family in County Wexford. What a great home base to explore the history of the family and the historic uprising of 1798 (in which we suspect my great-great-great-grandfather participated). The rural setting of Ballagh Court and its past history as a working farm made us feel that we were more than just visitors to Ireland. The peace and quiet was a tonic after our visit to Dublin. Our accommodations were well equipped with a full, modern kitchen which allowed us to save money by living off of the economy, rather than dining out for most meals. It was clean and well kept with an large bathroom and an ample bedroom. Our hosts, Richard and Salvia Daly, were great fun and helped us with some of our family search. Maggie the Weimaraner dog and Stanley the cat made us feel at home, and helped us miss just a little less our cats and dogs left at home. A great place to stay!!

“Home Farm, Fabulous Cottage” We stayed at home farm at the end of august for a week & what a lovely place it is, it has everything you need for a peaceful relaxing stay. Tucked away down a country lane next to a working farm. The cottage was bright & airy, very comfortable. Very local to JFK park & Dunbrody abbey Whilst all the attractions of Wexford are only a short drive away. The owner was very friendly & only a phone call away should you need her We were all sorry to leave but hope to return very soon

GRANGE FARMHOUSE, pet friendly, character holiday cottage, with a garden in
A great spot!

Five older women from the Boston, USA rented this for 5 days in April in order to do a "garden, abbey, castle" tour of South East and southern Ireland. This farmhouse was a great spot for our wanderings and each night we came home to fix dinner. As stated elsewhere, the kitchen is small but fitted out nicely and easy to work in. We were met with Roses on the dining table, and some initial food supplies in the refrigerator. And a welcome apple cake!!!f The bathrooms are very modern and the bedrooms quaint and comfortable. This was very roomy for 5 of us. And the house was in a convenient spot for driving to see the sights we wanted. The little town is nearby with a very handy grocery store, pub...with internet access, and the post office. We enjoyed our stay and loved the Farmhouse. 'The trip Planner' from New Hampshire!see more
Fort Mountain House, Duncormick, County Wexford
It was relaxing and peaceful

The cottage was very clean, well equipped and comfortable. The owners live next door and were very friendly and available to answer any questions. We felt very at home and it made a good base for our holiday. It was in a central area for local attractions in Wexford and surrounding counties. We really liked the peace of the countryside and the cottage itself.see more
SUTTON COTTGE, thatched, family-friendly cottage, two sitting rooms, enclosed
Wonderful traditional cottage near long stretches of beach

My husband & I and our Cairn Terrier stayed at Sutton house in September and we were so lucky with the weather, as this part seems to have its own micro-climate. The cottage is a traditional thatched house with a sympathetic modern extension at the back. There is an enclosed courtyard accessed from patio doors in the kitchen and it was totally safe for the dog, with no means of escape. The award winning Lobster Pot restaurant is within a two minute walk and offers a wide range of fresh seafood dishes. The village of Our Lady's Island is about 10/15 minutes' walk away and has a small convenience store and also a traditional Irish Bar, where the locals and staff were all very welcoming. In front of the pub is a beautiful walking area which overlooks the lake and is a paradise for all sorts of water birds. We spent much of the holiday walking along long stretches of clean sand and our terrier had his first taste of swimming in the sea and chasing seabirds. He loved it! The cottage is a good base for exploring this part of Ireland and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owner was very welcoming and we hope to return to Sutton Cottage in the future.see more
ROSEMOUNT COACH HOUSE, multi-fuel stove, great family cottage, ground floor
My Irish holiday

Wonderful cottage - couldn't be better. Friendly hosts, lovely scones jam and cream on arrival. Flowers in the window. Fire set ready to light. Good position for touring all around. Pity Ireland is so far from Australia - as would definitely stay there again. … see more
Chloe's Country Cottages: Mill Cottage
Relaxing getaway

I stayed in Chloe's Country Cottages with my family last month. We received a warm welcome on arrival and great service throughout our stay. We were pleasantly surprised by the facilities and the cosiness of the cottages. There was plenty of space for my husband and I and our two girls. I would recommend a visit to JFK memorial park which is very close and kept the kids entertained for the day. hook house is definitely worth seeing but wrap up well at this time of year. We passed a number of coves and beaches along the way and plan to return this summer to check them out. A thoroughly enjoyable break. definitely going back.see more
JOSIE'S HOUSE, spacious accommodation, sea views, en-suites, large gardens, in
Panoramic sea views

Josie's House is situated on the most incredible site with fabulous views of the hook Head peninsula. The view stretches from the lighthouse to Duncannon and across the channel to Dunmore East in Waterford. There are 3 houses together but even though the sites are open plan the other houses do not impinge on your holiday experience. The accommodation is very spacious, modern and comfortable. The upstairs of the house has a games room and seating for teens on a rainy day! We had great weather so we didn't use it. The kitchen is small relative to the other rooms in the house but it is still large enough to cater to the amount of people. The house would really benefit from an outside seating/eating/barbeque area. The views are so spectacular it was a real shame not to have an outdoor space to sit and drink them in. We had our dog with us and it was a perfect space for a pet. All of the floors are tiled or wooden so it was very easy to keep clean. There were no outdoor bins provided to store the rubbish. We felt this should have been included. We recycled our glass in Wellingtonbridge. There was also no shower curtain in the downstairs ensuite which was not a wet room so it had to be mopped up every time it was used. The Templar's Inn was walking distance from the house. You have to have a car though to get everywhere. The roadway up to the house is in a terrible state but driveable once you take it very slowly. Dollar Bay which is probably Ireland's nicest beach is very close by but you wouldn't really walk to it as the roads are narrow and dangerous for pedestrians. We loved our stay in Josie's house and would recommend it highly.see more
