Getting around

East Rose is located in a rural setting on Bodmin Moor. A car is essential to get around to see the sights. St Breward is the closest village, a leisurely 35 minute walk. The closest train station is Bodmin Parkway (located out of Bodmin town itself), and cars can be hired from Bodmin town. You can arrange for a taxi to collect you from the station to take to you the town centre. If you are feeling energetic, you can bring your bike and cycle around the moors (on the roads). This will be a great way to see the sights and nature of the moors at close hand. The Camel Trail (cycle route from Wenford Bridge to Padstow) is also only a few miles from East Rose, and definitely worth a visit.

Interaction with guest

We live on site at East Rose with our three children, so one of us is usually on hand if you have any queries during your stay. On arrival days, we encourage a self check in, and will ensure you have been emailed directions to the cottage prior to your arrival. We will however be onsite in the main white house if you require a socially distanced check in. Please do not hesitate to come and ring the door bell. If you think you will arrive after 5pm we ask if you can let us know so we can make arrangements for your key collection.

Response from the owner Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back. Regarding the water pressure in the shower, it sounds like the power cord next to the shower was off, which would decrease the pressure you get. We will double check this at the next changeover, but no one else has reported an issue (before or after your stay), and the housekeepers didn't notice a change in pressure when they cleaned the cottage. We always leave this on prior to guests going into the cottage, but will look into getting a label on the cord also. Many thanks again for the review, Becky and Matthew

Reviewed 27 Jun 2021

This was a lovely surprise for our first holiday after lockdown. Welomed by Becky who took us to our cottage, it was perfect. Everything you needed provided in it and the grounds looked after by Matthew were gorgeous, plenty of places to sit, relax and look at the views.A lot of hard work put into these cottages by both of them and it shows their love of the place. In St Breward a great Pub and Restaurant with delicious meals and snacks and helpful staff. Both definately worth a visit and I will be recommending it to those who ask me about it. "THANK YOU" Matthew and Becky. .

Response from the owner Thank you for taking the time to give your 4 star review of your recent stay in Rose Cottage. We are glad you found East Rose ideally located and that the cottage was cosy and comfortable for you. Regarding your comments for things to improve on, it is such a shame you did not mention these things during your stay as we could have arranged for a plumber to come and check the hot water, the cylinder and the cold water tap in the cottage at a convenient time during your stay. Now that you have brought it to our attention though, we can look to address the concerns you have raised (we would be surprised if there is an issue with the cylinder as this was replaced only a couple of years ago). We always try to give a true impression of our cottages, (including the furniture and layout) by including several photos in our adverts of inside the cottages and around the grounds at East Rose. We hope that this helps guests expectations to be met, but are sorry if this was not the case for you. Due to our rural location, mobile phone signal is indeed weak in certain locations on the site (many guests actually enjoy the fact that they can 'get away from it all' by not having a good signal!). However, some networks do get a signal in some cottages, but yes, the best location for a signal is usually by the entrance or in the main car park (if you happen to have a network that doesn't pickup a signal in the cottage). Thank you again for taking the time to review your stay.
