“Stunningly secluded, brilliant cottage” Where do I start? This was my second visit in six months and it felt like "coming home". Mrs. Scott (the owner) and her daughter keep their well-appointed cottage in excellent condition there's even a small collection of dvd's and board games should the weather turn nasty; I was there when the a1 was flooded for three days. Their welcome was as warm and friendly as before (the first time I was there I was even able to borrow a hairdryer as I'd forgotten mine!). The cottage is exactly as it's described, secluded. I went there to write in peace and found precisely that. The landlord and landlady at the local pub are great and the food is excellent - try the cheese platter - although it's a tad more than a five minute walk from Shepherd's Cottage. If you're into walking then this is the place to be; the sorrounding countryside is magnificent. What didn't I like? Having to leave.

“beautiful cottage , well appointed , friendly owner” A lovely friendly welcome made by the owner. Lots of advice given regarding the beautiful walks from the cottage . Furnishings in the cottage were beautiful , straight out of the Country Living magazine. Large Kitchen , well equipped with everything for a lovely holday . We didn't need the car once we got there as the village shops catered for everything we needed. The cottage was in such a good location for High Force & Low Force Waterfalls . A splendid walk from the doorstep . Off road parking . We could not have asked for anything more .

“Nice place; handy for Hadrian's Wall.” Nice loft flat that's very handy for Hadrian's Wall. Makes a good base for folks with 2 cars doing point-to-point walks. The flat is much better than the entrance way and hallways. Nicely furnished and the kitchen is well-equipped. My one complaint is that the taps in the kitchen and bathroom are very cheaply finished. The bathroom sink and shower both leaked from our arrival. Overall, very handy for the local grocery store and pubs. Haltwhistle itself is lacking in depth in restaurants and pubs, but there is a very handy chip shop just down the High Street. "The Milecastle Inn" is a very nice pub just 3 miles away, on the Military Road, that does good food.

“Beautifully decorated and furnished.” This is a lovely place for a couple to stay. It makes a great base for a touring holiday in Northumberland. In walking distant of Hadrian's Wall. The inside is done to a very high standard and is comfortable. There's plenty of shops, cafes and pubs in the village. The only downside is that it's on a main road but that didn't detract from our enjoyment of our holiday in any way.

CROFTERS COTTAGE With Hottub Cosy Stove/oven Lakes
Fantastic, my perfect location, you won't be disappointed

We booked 4 nights in The Crofters but the night before stayed in The Biscuit Barrell (on the farm) very cosy , warm and definitely something different to try! From the minute we arrived at The Crofters we knew we had made a good choice. The owners Eddie and Louise were the perfect hosts and could not do enough for us. The cottage was so cosy, warm and unique. Considering we picked a bad week to go (Hurricaine Bertha) it did not dampen our spirits. Sitting in the hot tub (sometimes in the rain under an umbrella) and looking at the beautiful scenery and the animals in the field was just the perfect setting. On an evening we lit candles, the log fire was so lovely and warm and even cooked a meal in the oven on it! I must mention the bed... oh my days, it is the most comfortable bed I have slept in and because of the quietness of the cottage I even slept the clock around one day (haven't done that in a long time!!) If its peace and quiet in a beautiful location then don't hesitate to book, you wont be disappointed. I for one am looking forward to going back again, no traffic, no noise, no people, just me my other half chilling out and relaxing ;-)see more
