“very comfortable”

Reviewed 16 Jan 2014

this was a late choice for a holiday, as this was the first year with Merlin our pet Great Dane, location great for walks, local pub, The Turks Head, welcomed Merlin with open arms, local shops and garage, in short we hope to re-visit soon, and the owner of the cottage was friendly and very helpful

“Excellently situated and wonderfully presented!”

Reviewed 19 Oct 2013

This cottage was very well presented. Cozy, comfortable, it really did feel just like being at home. I did arrive a little early having had a long but trouble free journey and did meet the family that own it, and they are lovely people. The kitchen had everything you could need, the lounge was very comforable, and the bedroom was large and the bed very welcoming and comfortable also. The situation of the property is also very good as it is quiet at night but only seconds from the pubs and eateries of alston in one direction, and yards from a lovely walk by the river in the other direction. I was there on my own with my dog but I would happily recommend this to any couple. I do hope to return here at some time.

“Pleasantly Surprised by Kings Cottage”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2011

This cottage turned out to be more spacious, modern, and comfortable than I was expecting. The lounge was a good size with 2 sofas, and a 32" tv. The kitchen, bathroom and bedroom were all spacious with modern amenities which didn't spoil the old fashioned charm of the cottage itself. The cottage is located off the main road, down a sidestreet. The upside is that it is quiet. The downside is that parking can be a bit onerous, especially if the neighbour is parked there. Alston itself is a pleasant market town with a few nice walks available such as alongside one of its 2 rivers. If you are prepared to travel 20 miles you can reach places such as Ullswater, Hadrian's Wall, and High Force waterfall. There are a few pubs, cafes, restaurants, and takeaways in town. Having not spent any time in this area before, I found plenty to do in the week I was there and would recommend to others.

“relaxing”

Reviewed 3 Mar 2011

The cottage was pretty and comfortable. Well Equipped. We did have a little bit trouble with the hot water for the shower/bath, but sorted it eventually. Alston is a nice little village and the pubs were friendly, and dog friendly too. All in all a very nice and relaxing stay.

“relaxing, walking, plenty pubs, chilln-out scenery to die for!!!”

“Great Place,Great People!”

The cottage was really spacious.cozy and romantic.Great friendly locals, spectacular scenery and easy to reach a variety of places.Would rebook, only down side was neighbours car parked the whole week right in front of the window and getting parked after a day out was challenging at times, but will be back.
