“It is a great place to stay with family! Definitely recommend it!” We stayed in the villa for more than 2 weeks, and really enjoyed our time there! The house is better in real life than on the pictures (in my opinion) We had extended family with us, in-laws, and children. Great space and a back garden where children were freely running around. Fruit trees are there in the garden, with real lemons, pomegranates, oranges, figs, ...flowers. Big house, space was enough for everyone, huge terrace and a balcony. Special thanks to Ali Duman, he was extremely patient with us and very much helpful! Great service! The sea is about 20-25 mins walking, but we rented a car so it takes 3 mins by car to get there. The beach is fantastic. Not many people, which was very much desirable for us! No tourists!! only nice and friendly local people!!! We enjoyed our time on the beach, made friends... it is kind of a wild beach, but clean, it has parking space, 4 changing wooden rooms, and a shower. There is a market every wednesday, you can buy whatever you want from fruits to clothes, local amazing teas, spices, etc. Also, superstore is about 20mins walking, which is fine! as we all need to exercise and be healthy and strong! You can see so much more when you just walk around! Touristic area is quite far, maybe 40-50 mins walking,,,,in case if you are lonely and want to meet other travellers, there plenty of opportunities and night life, etc.:)) most of them, however, are russians :) Anyway, we had a great time together with the family! and sea was very clean! I could see my toes and fish around . This place is definitely for someone who wants to have some nice time out far from all distractions, big cities, noise, etc.

“Away from it all” If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings, with marvellous countryside, archaeological sites and a beautiful beach within easy reach, this is it! We spent two weeks in Grapevine Cottage and reality surpassed our expectations. We loved the cottage with its slight quirkiness and many individual touches, the space and light of the upstairs room and the coolness of the bedrooms downstairs. Outside, you are spoilt for choice: the spacious shady balcony with its marvellous views towards Kalkan, the comfortable couch and chairs under the vines in front of the house, another dining table by the barbecue or the hammock. All of this set in a mature garden with the sound of water from the irrigation channels adding to the feeling of coolness and relaxation, as do the muezzin's calls from the mosque in the village above. Islamlar is about 20 minutes from Kalkan, though with practice, the distance seems to get shorter. It is a small village with quite a few restaurants offering simple meals, all featuring local trout. Kalkan has everything you could want, though we spent little time there as we felt it was a little too touristy. There is plenty to see in the area with many, often deserted, Lycian sites nearby, stunning countryside and, once you get away from the coast, villages that are untouched by tourism. The beautiful, completely unspoilt Patara beach is just 30 minutes from Islamlar and even in august not at all crowded. It was great to have Deborah nearby who was very hospitable and provided us not only with local knowledge but also with marvellously fresh eggs from her hens and ducks. Various other friendly animals wander about in the garden, all adding to what, for us, was an ideal holiday.
