“What a great weekend” We went for a 40th birthday and took 16 friends along with us. The house was just great in every way. We enjoyed the space, the kitchen and its cupboards full of stuff, the jacuzzi and the massive lounge with roaring fire. I would recommend this for a great weekend getaway with friends or family. It's in a fabulous location right by the sea and very private. My only bug was it was cold but we did go in November! Would definitely go again.

“Fab break!!” We ( 2 adults and 2 boys) went and stayed late December for a 3 night break over the New Year. The cottage was equipped with everything we would need. The wood burning stove was lovely and cosy after a walk out. Could not fault in anyway. We all had a wonderful time!!

“Spacious, clean and well positioned holiday home” Hunter's Chase is a large, modern well equipped house, ideally positioned for visiting the Northern Lake District. We visited with a large, mixed age group of 9 from an 8 year old to Grandad in his 80s. All of the bedrooms were well appointed with plenty of storage space. A total of 4 bathrooms plus a downstairs cloakroom meant there were no arguments or queues for the toilet! The two main bedrooms were equipped with large flat screen tvs as well as the lounge. We also made good use of the wi-fi in the house. The kitchen was newly fitted and very well equipped with every type of crockery, cutlery and cooking implement you might require as well as a dishwasher and a large fridge freezer. It's located in a lovely village (although we never tried the pub) with the actual position being very quiet with views over fields and a large garden good for playing ball games. Pooley Bridge nearby has several pubs and a lovely beach by the river and Penrith, also not far away, is a traditional market town with facilities including a swimming pool, cinema and the normal array of supermarkets.

“Lovely property, great location, warm welcome.” Stockwell Hall Cottage was immaculately presented, well equipped and excellently furnished, located in a tranquill setting enjoying views of the countryside and surrounded by animals and farmland. The owners provided a botle of wine, a freshly baked cake, eggs, bacon, milk, butter and bread, and two vases of fresh flowers. We had a thoroughly relaxing time, and were only a short drive from Keswick, Penrith and Carlisle, an excellent base for touring without the hussle and bussle of being nearer to the heart of the Lake District. Perefect! Would like to stay again.

“Home from home :)” My partner and I shared a lovely week here. The house was an excellent base for exploring the lake district and Scotland, but be prepared to drive as there aren't many amenities nearby. The house was well equipped for cooking, entertaining yourself (there were boardgames and books), and there was a lovely wood burning stove that we made use of on a few occasions. All in all, we had a lovely holiday and would definitely recommend the cottage.

“Ideal holiday home” Our family really enjoyed our holiday in this beautiful quiet location. The house is very well equiped, very comfortable. The Shield family very welcoming, local eating houses very good but suggest booking for wheatsheaf as it is very popular and dogs are welcome. We found lots to do and Keswick is not far to go. The only negative was that the third bedroom is small and would be better as a single room. We would certainly return and recommend it to others.

“Plenty to see and to do but a quiet place to stay” The views are spectacular. The accomodation is comfortable and the landlady is very friendly. It's a nice place for children. We loved to play with the dogs.

“The perfect cottage in the perfect location” Anexcellent cottage that was very well equipped. The drying room was extrememly useful due to the weather during the week we had the cottage. Very cosy ,warm and comfortable. After a good days walking you could easily cook a meal or alternatively take a very short walk to a number of eating houses. Avoid the Red Lion for food !
