About Egypt

There is a wealth of cultural and archaeological wonders around every turn in Egypt, from the Sphinx and the pyramids at Giza to the Valley of Kings, Luxor, the Red Sea, and the Nile. Outdoor enthusiasts will relish the amazing options for water sports including diving, snorkeling, and windsurfing. For land lovers, there are a number of activities to enjoy as well, such as hiking, biking, and walking. A camel ride or a riverboat tour also tops the to-do list. For those who want a unique experience on the fairway, Egypt golf is ideal. Culture enthusiasts will also be impressed with the large variety of Egypt museums. After a long day of adventure in the sun, indulge in a celebrated relaxation treatment in one of Egypt's renowned spas.

Here are a few additional suggestions of things to do in Egypt:

  • Saqqara Pyramids: These pyramids are home to a number of celebrated structures. They include the Mastaba of Ti, the Persian Tombs, the Pyramid of Sekhemkhet, the Pyramid of Sekhemkhet and the Step Pyramid of Djoser.
  • Memphis: This was the capital of Ancient Egypt during the Middle Kingdom. The site still contains several exquisite statues and artifacts at an outdoor museum that are definitely worth a look.
  • Pyramids of Sound and Light Show: When in Cairo, a daytime visit to the Pyramids is awe-inspiring and at night during this performance, it's simply spectacular! The show includes a recorded commentary that details the country's history, illustrated by images projected on the temple's wall.
  • Egyptian Antiquities Museum: This world-renowned museum is home to the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts on the planet. There are over 120,000 items on display, including the celebrated Tutankhamen collection featuring the famous gold death mask and royal Mummy room.
  • Khan-Al-Khalili: Situated in the center of Islamic Cairo, this open-air bazaar is a popular spot with residents and visitors alike. It is a bustling and colorful space filled with exotic and unique items ranging from perfumes and spices to souvenirs and jewelry.
  • Old City: Cairo is the oldest section in the ancient center of the Coptic Christian community. All three of the world's largest monotheistic religions are represented here. The city features five original churches, the country's first mosque, and the oldest synagogue.

Egypt is known the world over for its ancient ruins and exotic desert locale. Vacation rentals are a great way to make the most of your time in this incredible country, whether you are on a family vacation, an Egypt honeymoon, or a trip with a large group of friends.

Villa Sahara
Fabulous Vacation

This is a hidden treasure. The reservation request was promptly answered by Maria as well as all subsequent emails. The villa is a nice oasis on the outskirts of alexandria and beautifully maintained. The housekeeper was there when we arrived and had ensured that all was set for us. There were plenty of linens in the bathrooms and bedrooms. The kitchen had everything you could think of and the living room/sitting area were comfortable with tv and satellite channels. Although it was too cold to go swimming it was wonderful sitting by the pool in the mornings and simply enjoying the quiet and sun. This is a gem in what can be a crowded city. Would definitely rent again - for longer!see more
East Bank Luxury Apartment includes breakfast
A dream Egyptian experience lived close up.

Our ideal holiday is where we stay amongst the local culture, for good and bad. An "England with sun all inclusive luxury hotel experience" is not for us. So we were sceptical about the online pictures of the flat. Surely this must be a mainstream hotel in the tourist part of town? We needn't have worried! The flat is cleverly tucked up and away on the edge of Luxor old town, amongst Egyptian families, businesses and street traders. Occasionally street noise can be heard, but it never disturbs. It opens directly into the main street. 1min walk away are the Tourist and Egyptian souks. Taxis, Kalesh and buses pass outside. Temple/museum sites in Luxor are a few minutes lazy walk away or a few pence ride if you need it even lazier. 5mins walk the other way is the Rail Station and modern shopping. It's a perfect location. Edward's and Freda's aim is to match hotel standards but I think they sell themselves short. In terms of relaxed comfort their service is better. All mod cons of course, good kitchen, no "extras" to add, ample breakfast served on the roof terrace, but best of all, Edward and Freda themselves to help getting used to day to day Egyptian life. Effectively we had our own very experienced guides, on call whenever required, a service worth it's weight in gold. We planned to make our own way to the sites but, thankfully, we asked them. Without charge they set up trips for us through a local agent, saving us money and lots of awkward hassle. We visited Karnak, The Valley Of The Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and took felucca and balloon rides. Our holiday became so much more simply by their knowing the area and people so well. To round off, in usual review terms everything was honestly and accurately described, clean and well maintained, with wonderful hosts. I would have no hesitation at all in recommending the property to anyone looking for an "in the culture" experience. We have some great holidays but both feel this one was really special. LUXURY 3BD VILLA WITH A PRIVATE SWIMMING POOL (9B)
Totally stress free break.

This was our first visit to Sharm so knew nothing about the area or the practicalities of self catering in a place where everyone seems to go all inclusive. We were met at the airport by armands (the property manager.) who immediately put us at ease by dealing with the taxi drivers and security on the complex. He let us into the apartment which was very modern and clean, there was water, milk, tea, coffee and fruit awaiting us. The apartment is very comfortable, mattresses especially,we all slept really well. It's in a great location, yards from the pool and 200 mtrs from the beach from which there is brilliant snorkelling,i was there most days swimming with rays, octopus and beautiful fish.It is also close to the supermarket and some great restaurants. We had 2 lovely meals at "Peking" (Chinese.) fantastic steaks at "Three Crowns" and our favourite was "Virus", not a great name for a restaurant i know but as good as any Indian we have tasted and we've tried a lot. There is also "KFC","Mcdonalds", "Burger King","TGI Fridays" and "Hard Rock Cafe" within 15 mins walk. We used the little blue buses to get around, they are really cheap and less haggling than the Taxis.£1 Egyptian pound (10p english) anywhere in Nabq and £3 Egyptian to Naama (30p english)though they may try and get more, just be firm.We also got the free bus to Soho Square one night which was great. To finish i must tell you about armands. He is a master of hospitality ! There when you want him and not when you don't.Nothing is to much trouble for him. Although it was late when we landed he walked to the supermarket with us and gave us a tour of the area.He organised the bus to Soho and got a very good exchange rate for us. He also gave us lots of advice on how much to pay for things and where to eat.He is an attribute to the whole experience of booking this apartment. I feel that we arrived as holidaymakers and left as friends. You can't not like him.see more
