“Country Escape” The last mile or two may be long but this wonderful house is worth it. A superb character farmhouse in a wonderful setting. A cosy, secret retreat. Make sure you explore the grounds down to the river. The games room was a bonus. Highly recommended.

“Away from it all” A lovely quiet little cottage with excellent amenities on a working farm in Upper Wharfedale. Quite remote and very peaceful, but close to some good local pubs and with wonderful scenery and walks right from the front door. The owners are very friendly and helpful without ever being obtrusive. We very much enjoyed our stay including the enforced extra day after we got snowed in! Suitable for all those who love the outdoors, perhaps less so for those craving access to modern entertainment - there is no mobile phone signal and the bright lights are many miles away!

“Lovely cottage and gardens” Lovely cottage, gardens and orchard and and Paul could not have been nicer. His restoration of the property was excellent and great attention was paid to little details inside the cottage. There was more than enough matching cutlery and dishes and all that one would require. The location was quiet and sheltered and we enjoyed our stay. Anyone wishing to go to York would be wise to take advantage of the Park and Ride system. We liked the cottage and Paul best and no negative points except if one only wanted a drink or a pub meal one would need to use the car.

“Wonderful” When we arrived at Wheelhouse, we were immediately met by our hostess who could not have been more helpful. On opening the door to this immaculate cottage, we entered a spacious hallway and with billowing curtains...it was a hot sunny day the 1st week of June, so Sharon had opened the windows and patio doors to let the air circulate for us. It was perfect! a welcome, balloon, bottle of wine and other goodies were left for us. It was The nicest cottage we have stayed in. All 3 bedrooms were big, airy and comfortable. Excellent bathroom and kitchen facilities and the living room room/ kitchen opens up onto a private courtyard with table, chairs and an umbrella for shade. The cottage was beautifully and tastefully decorated, not too fussy with too many ornaments to break! all in all, it was a perfect holiday destination.

“lots to do” This was an excellent place to stay, lots of places to eat and good food to buy. Lots of lovely places to visit. really enjoyed Bolton castle and trip on train as well as quiet days only gazing out at the moors. The army, god bless them for keeping us safe, were never a problem. They keep this area like it was 30 years ago, no development or houses built in the countryside. The house was warm, the beds comfortable, pub at Downholm had great food and was very busy, a must as was the Italian restaurant in Richmond. I loved the view of Walburn Hall. Most memorable, hope to return.

“Beautiful place!” We wanted a place in Dales that gave us some nice seclusion as we were coming from a huge city with major traffic jams. This cottage and surrounding area was just the place. It was beautiful and the cottage was very well equipped with whatever we needed. We will definitely go back.

“awesome” what a wonderful place, and the hosts were lovely people as well as the pets. Great location. Could not fault the accomadation, most comfortable bed we slept in, would reccomend it to any body, and if ever we went back to yorkshire we would stay there again for sure. Linda and ed should be proud of what they have done to the place, it is fabulous

“Arklethwaite” Very cosy cottage very well equipted. Lovely walks nearby. Langthwaite is a very pretty little village with small friendly pub. Parking just a little bit away from the cottage. Only drawback is it has no garden to sit out in.

“Wonderful weekend” Great location, lovely cottage. We got in late on a Friday evening so the tea and biscuits were very welcoming! We needed accommodation for a wedding in nearby villages. My son is 3 so the extra home comforts were the real real for going for a cottage. This was a great find! Cosy, but with more than enough room for a small family. As it was lambing season too we had the added magic of seeing the newborn lambs. This a great place for active breaks or a completely relaxing holiday.
