“Perfect!!” The Goat Shed was the perfect place to spend our 10 year wedding anniversary. Lovely walks close by and friendly pubs (which welcomed our dog Busta!)...all in all a perfect place to spend a week relaxing. Highly recommend the Goat Shed for couples wanting to get away from it all.

“Peace and alpacas” We booked this property in early October without a thought for the weather, however two weeks before our arrival, the snow fell heavily in the UK. I kept in contact with the owner who assured us they would get us into the fairly remote property at least as they owned a 4x4. The plan was to arrange a Tesco home delivery on the day that we arrived, but the on-line service had stopped taking any more bookings due to the snow. So a quick shopping expedition on our way to North Yorkshire and we were excited. The place is about 1/2 mile off the main road and we found it no problem even in the dark. We were met by Kaye, the owner who soon put us at ease and after a quick run down of the cottage, explained where the local hostelry was. I had been nominated chef for the week, so a quick search round "my kitchen" put me in a great party mood. It was perfect, everything to hand, clean and well equipped. It is a farm cottage on a working smallholding with dogs, chickens, sheep and the alpacas over the fence. The property has a large comfy double bedroom and in the lounge the comfiest sofa bed I have ever slept on. It has constant hot water, a great shower and a stable door to look out into the foldyard. We spent lazy days at home, with the small TV, and plenty of books in the property it was a relaxing break. We are not walkers or ramblers but spent our time equally between "the Bay" and Whitby exploring the lovely shops, pubs and harbour. You cannot go to Whitby without buying smoked Kippers from Fortunes. you cannot visit the Bay without a couple of pints in the pub looking out to sea. We only needed assistance once in our front wheel drive car but the locals were as helpful as any you would wish to meet. Would we go again, you bet your auntie Nelly we would. Lovely cottage, Lovely people, Lovely area!

“Perfect retreat for couples” Excellent welcome on arrival, very spacious & clean. Both cottage & surrounding area absolutely first class. Will defiantly recommend to friends & family. Really good heating system & plenty of hot water. The thing we liked best was the lovely bathroom facilities. The thing we liked least was the TV was too small for the room although it worked well & had plenty of channels.

THE GOAT SHED, pet friendly, character holiday cottage in Robin Hood’S
Comfortable,homely and ideally situated.

We travelled to The Goatshed from Sale in Cheshire on a very cold, wet and wintry Monday morning in October! There was fog, sleet and driving rain as we drove up the M62 and I was wondering what on earth had possessed me to book a week away in Yorkshire in October! However, as we arrived at the cottage in the farm grounds - the sun was shining and the sky had turned to a beautiful clear blue with not a cloud in sight! The owner - Mrs Peberdy - came to meet us with the cottage keys and gave us a very friendly welcome. She asked us to let her know if we needed anything and told us she would be available to help at any time. The cottage has been lovingly renovated. It was very spacious and comfortable and well equipped.Central heating radiators timed to come on early morning and evening meant we were always warm and cosy! The weather was kind to us all week and we were able to take advantage of the Goatshed's fabulous location every day! It was ideally located for us - just a 10 minute drive into Whitby or 15 minutes or so to Robin Hood's Bay - both really great places with lots of exploring and things to see. Sandsend - just a little outside Whitby was charming - the cottages by the river are picture postcard material! Scarborough, Filey, and Bridlington were all easily accessible and worth visiting as was Goatland - the home of Itv's 'Heartbeat'! Staithes (lovely old fishing harbour) was very interesting - our dog Ben spent hours running and swimming in the sea there! We really loved exploring the old Whitby town and hiking up all the steps to the abbey - the views made the effort worthwhile! Our stay at the Goatshed was excellent-we could not have wished for anything better.I would certainly recommend it and will be looking to go again next year!see more
