“Recreation, pure nature and millions of sheeps.” A nice and cosy cottage. Welcome-eggs. The cottage is small but enough for 2 adults. It is not easy to find if you are not from Great Britain. We missed the small road two times. But when we reached the "goal" it was, for us, typical English, nice and kind. We had a wonderful week with good weather and not so good weather. And I had never seen so much sheeps in my live.

“Peacefull” very quiet down country lane very clean kitchen a bit on the small side but everything you need was their. Nice pub 5 mins walk but dark lane torch was supplied handy for york on the park and ride could not work the oven one day the owner from next door came straight away got it working

“Perfect!!” The Goat Shed was the perfect place to spend our 10 year wedding anniversary. Lovely walks close by and friendly pubs (which welcomed our dog Busta!)...all in all a perfect place to spend a week relaxing. Highly recommend the Goat Shed for couples wanting to get away from it all.

“Peace and alpacas” We booked this property in early October without a thought for the weather, however two weeks before our arrival, the snow fell heavily in the UK. I kept in contact with the owner who assured us they would get us into the fairly remote property at least as they owned a 4x4. The plan was to arrange a Tesco home delivery on the day that we arrived, but the on-line service had stopped taking any more bookings due to the snow. So a quick shopping expedition on our way to North Yorkshire and we were excited. The place is about 1/2 mile off the main road and we found it no problem even in the dark. We were met by Kaye, the owner who soon put us at ease and after a quick run down of the cottage, explained where the local hostelry was. I had been nominated chef for the week, so a quick search round "my kitchen" put me in a great party mood. It was perfect, everything to hand, clean and well equipped. It is a farm cottage on a working smallholding with dogs, chickens, sheep and the alpacas over the fence. The property has a large comfy double bedroom and in the lounge the comfiest sofa bed I have ever slept on. It has constant hot water, a great shower and a stable door to look out into the foldyard. We spent lazy days at home, with the small TV, and plenty of books in the property it was a relaxing break. We are not walkers or ramblers but spent our time equally between "the Bay" and Whitby exploring the lovely shops, pubs and harbour. You cannot go to Whitby without buying smoked Kippers from Fortunes. you cannot visit the Bay without a couple of pints in the pub looking out to sea. We only needed assistance once in our front wheel drive car but the locals were as helpful as any you would wish to meet. Would we go again, you bet your auntie Nelly we would. Lovely cottage, Lovely people, Lovely area!

“The perfect 'get away from it all' cottage” From the moment we were welcomed by the owner to the moment we left this was the perfect get away from it all break. The cottage was very cosy for a winter break, we could also see it as ideal for those warmer evenings, sitting outside by the beck. Although Lastingham is in a lovely quiet valley the towns of Whitby, Scarborough and Malton are all within easy reach. Walking on the Moors is accessible from the door-step,wonderful countryside to explore in all seasons as long as you are fully prepared; walking boots,etc. are essential. We hope to return in the very near future.

“perfect cottage” the cottage was very beautiful. the interior was very warm and inviting. it was quiet and peaceful, all the ingredients for a relaxing holiday.

“Fantastic - perfect for a cosy weekend” I absolutely loved this place! Set in the middle of no where, perfectly furnished, lovely cottage, a local town about 10 minute drive away which has everything you can need. The only down side was lack of mobile signal but if you want the perfect get away that's no problem! I will definetely be returning and recommending to friends as it's perfect!

“Perfect retreat for couples” Excellent welcome on arrival, very spacious & clean. Both cottage & surrounding area absolutely first class. Will defiantly recommend to friends & family. Really good heating system & plenty of hot water.The thing we liked best was the lovely bathroom facilities. The thing we liked least was the TV was too small for the room although it worked well & had plenty of channels.

“Arklethwaite” Very cosy cottage very well equipted. Lovely walks nearby. Langthwaite is a very pretty little village with small friendly pub. Parking just a little bit away from the cottage. Only drawback is it has no garden to sit out in.

“Fantastic!” This cottage is just fabulous! super smart, spacey and so peacefull even thoiugh its close to the main roads...i satyed with my husband and 2yr old, it was very clean and safe for my child which meant we could chill out wile he explored the place, high chair, cot and 2 baby gates provided...everything you need for a 'home from home' stay...im hoping to go back very soon...just wonderfull!

“Great Week in the Vale of York” Great accomodation, friendly welcome and the hot tube was a big hit with the family. Well appointed and nicely presented self catering cottage. Although the owners house is adjoining there were no issues with privacy - nice rural setting. Laundry facilities provided so great for families. Malton only 7 miles away so easy access to supermarket and local shops. Location's great as it's handy for York, the coast, Dalby Forrest and North Yorkshires Moors - wish we'd had more time to explore as we found that there was just so much to do. Highlights of the week were: hiring mountain bikes in Dalby Forrest, and sightseeing in York Only slight down side was that there was no blind on the velux window in the downstairs (3rd) bedroom. So it was just as well that our son gets up at the crack of dawn anyway. Would thoroughly recommend this cottage as it was also great value for money.

“Wonderful” When we arrived at Wheelhouse, we were immediately met by our hostess who could not have been more helpful. On opening the door to this immaculate cottage, we entered a spacious hallway and with billowing curtains...it was a hot sunny day the 1st week of June, so Sharon had opened the windows and patio doors to let the air circulate for us. It was perfect! a welcome, balloon, bottle of wine and other goodies were left for us. It was The nicest cottage we have stayed in. All 3 bedrooms were big, airy and comfortable. Excellent bathroom and kitchen facilities and the living room room/ kitchen opens up onto a private courtyard with table, chairs and an umbrella for shade. The cottage was beautifully and tastefully decorated, not too fussy with too many ornaments to break! all in all, it was a perfect holiday destination.

“excellent, great place, well positioned everything it says in br” We were met by the proprietor who had just finished cleaning. He showed us where the key was an how everything worked. The cottage was clean, tidy, plenty of wood for woodburner and full of character. We loved the mezzanine bedroom and the shower room. Kitchen was very good with plenty of cutlery and crockery. Lots of info on area and a special offer for a meal at the Indian restaurant nearby. Nothing we disliked about it as it was all as described.

“Comfortable, well equipped accommodation for two.” Very pleasant, comfortable and extremely well equipped accommodation in good walking country a mile or so inland from the Cleveland Way coastal path. A warm welcome on arrival.A most enjoyable week despite torrential thunder storms!
