“No one wanted to go home!!!” Wow, first trip to Costa Rica and our family didn't want to leave. Between the accommodations at a very reasonable rate and the adventures that Ronda (manager/owner?) set up, our family truly had a great time. The home was so family oriented. Plenty of rooms, great family room that we would all hang after a full day of beaching it. Guest house was the perfect place to put my in-laws - gave us the space we all needed :). I was debating to give this review, because I really want to keep this place as a secret gem for me and my friends, but my hubby told me I was uncool by doing that. So here I am, want to forget all your worries and be pampered at the same time and leave with some awesome memories, this is the place to stay. Don't forget to bring your camera and plenty of sun tan lotion!!

“You don't have to die to get to heaven” Before my stay at Casa del Perro Feliz, I had never been to the Yucatan peninsula and I found the listing for the house on the internet. As you know, there can be a big difference between the experience promised in the listing and your actual stay. Everything about my 10 days at this fabulous house far exceeded my expectations. The house is spacious and sweet. Maria and Ulises, the caretakers, are dedicated and gracious. The bay is a Caribbean dream. We were there for the Christmas and new year holidays and we almost never even saw our neighbors--which meant we had the whole bay to ourselves. The nearby town of Tulum was exciting and the food was great. There are many things to see in the peninsula but, for us, the most magnificent were the cenotes. Swim in as many of them as you can. There is one 5 minutes walk from the house, but our favorite was the Grand Cenote, a few minutes drive. This was a memorable and rewarding trip for me, my wife and our 3 children. I'm saving up so we can go back.

“A spectacular vacation” Our vacation to Costa Rica was made special, indeed spectacular, thanks to the efforts of the people at Costa Rica Star Villas. Mar-a-Villa was luxurious, and provided our group of ten not only a wonderful "home away from home" but only a convenient base from which we could take advantage of all that Costa Rica has to offer - from scuba diving to deep sea fishing to zip-lining to river rafting and beyond. Costa Rica Star Villas provided us our own private concierge, driver, maid and chef - all of whom worked very hard to make us comfortable and all of whom contributed to our outstanding experience in Costa Rica.

“Beautiful vacation at Casa de Colores” First off, the home is superb and wonderfully situated at the north end of Half Moon Bay with sweeping views of the water from nearly every room in the house. Great staff and amenities, this home has everything to make your vacation in akumal special and enjoyable. There are a few dining options are within walking distance and everything the town has to offer is only a short bike ride away, however we also loved staying at home to cook on occasion as you can't beat the view! While you can snorkel outside your door in Half Moon Bay, walk to Yal-Ku lagoon, hang out at the main beach in town or take day trips, I think the beauty of Casa De Colores is that you don't feel like you have to leave. Relaxing on the deck or by the pool with a good book is a great way to spend a day. This home would be good for families.

“All around awesome!” Villa Hermosa is a gorgeous property located about 15 minutes outside of the city center. The drive from La Fortuna takes about 15 minutes which offers a look at what this amazing place in Costa Rica has to offer. Once you arrive you are greeted by Wendy, the owner, who is extremely welcoming and accommodating. She recommended activities and locations to visit while we were in the area. This saved us so much time and allowed us to enjoy every second. Before we got there, she gave us information about driving in Costa Rica, navigating the airport, etc. (so helpful!!) I would recommend renting a car if you plan on doing a lot of activities, but if you plan on lying around the property I'm sure there are other transportation options. The property is even better than even what we expected. My wife and I were kicking ourselves for not asking some friends to join us on the trip because there are plenty of amenities on the grounds to entertain 4 people. The private pool, outdoor dining and seating areas, kitchen, hammocks and garden were amazing. We found ourselves just wanting to hang in the hammocks listening to nature with a cocktail or coffee. It was so peaceful and calming! One recommendation I would have for travelers is to go to The Springs (a nearby resort) for their natural hot springs experience. My wife and I spent our evenings there lounging around in their thermal springs and it is about a 5 minute drive from Villa Hermosa. For $50 each, we got a 2 day pass to use the tubs. We especially enjoyed visiting the animal Rescue Center that they have on grounds (complementary tour with the pass). Overall - We couldn't have enjoyed our stay at the Villa Hermosa more. Wendy has done an amazing job at making this a one of a kind stay! The breakfasts were yummy, it was so nice waking up to fresh coffee daily was amazing, and staying here made our trip complete. Thank you for making our holiday so wonderful, Wendy!!!

“Loved every second of our vacation!!” The condo was great, lots of room for the four of us. The kids had their own bedroom, with their own beds, and their own bathroom. Bonus. The wrap around balcony was very pretty, loved the view. The beach and ocean out front of the hotel are lovely, although it is the usual hassle trying to get a lounger. Between the people who put their towels down at early hours, and are not even sitting in the chair, and the Mexicans hussling to make a buck off the loungers right in front of the hotel, It was most aggravating! Isla was fun to explore, the people are kind, the island is very safe, and the food was excellent.

“Beautiful House” With a perfect view of the blue ocean and a really nice service we fully enjoyed our stay in akumal, the Hause is clean, comfortable, with a nice view and a pool. “Peaceful and calm oasis retreat” This was my fifth visit to Caye Caulker, first time staying in a private rental house as a solo traveler. Kim from Caye Caulker Rentals went above and beyond the entire stay to ensure it was comfortable and safe. Check-in was easy and included a taxi pickup from the airport, then back to the house. Maps and directions are provided, as well as recommendations for eating, shopping and daytime activities. I arrived with a nasty cold and Kim checked in on me, sending me to the pharmacy when I wasn't improving. If you're a solo traveler in central america this kind of oversight is appreciated. The house is made from Belizean hard wood and is beautiful and great for a couple. Steep stairs to the bedroom would not be safe for small children who can walk, but otherwise a great house for a family. The house is cool when windows are open with a breeze (no a/c), and shut up safely when closed. The grounds are clean and full of local flora, which invite lots of birds and geckos. You can hear geckos at night, otherwise extremely quiet. There is no tv, but there is a (sometimes flaky) wireless connection. There is a full kitchen but no spices, and I was able to cook a couple meals without issue. If you're with a group, this is a great entertaining house with built-in table and benches and a beautiful deck around the pool. The pool was refreshing, clean, relaxing and an easy way to cool off in the higher temp days without having to leave the property. Kim kept the pool sparkling with frequent morning cleaning. Location wise, you will want to get a bike as it is about a 5 minute ride from the village, but a long walk on a hot day. I appreciated the quiet but sometimes felt less safe going home alone after dark. Overall this is a beautiful place to get some rest and relaxation, allowing you to experience Caye Caulker on your own time and schedule.
