“Excellent Condo for the Money” When we reserved the condo we got three very informative emails in reply letting us know about check in-check out procedures, nearby restaurants, car rentals, activities in Maui, etc., so that was very helpful. When we got there we found the condo very clean with plenty of comfortable furnishings. There is no A/C but we found that if we opened the windows and turned on the fans in the evenings, the condo stayed very comfortable. It did not get too hot in the middle of the day. Kevin's policy of marking refrigerator items with the date of purchase is brilliant and renters to save on the cost of condiments and other little items. The pantry was full of staples too, so if you forgot to get something at the store, you will likely find it in the cupboard! Kevin keeps the bathroom medicine cabinet, linen closet and bedroom closets stocked with everything else you may need - boogie boards, sand toys, snorkel equipment, pool noodles, laundry detergent, bleach, bandages, antibacterial ointment, sunscreen, linens, beach towels, duct tape, you name it! The only thing we needed but couldn't find was a pair of scissors, but we got by! FYI, there is no dishwasher, so you will have to wash the dishes by hand. The location is very nice. It is in a part of town where you can walk to restaurants, a natural (but vegetarian) market, coffee shop, shave ice store, surf shop, etc. Plus it is a bout a 5-10 minute drive north of Lahaina if you need more in terms of shops and restaurants. Lahaina is also a prime spot for surf and paddleboard lessons and for hiring a boat for deep sea fishing, among other activities. The condo is also right across the street from a nice, well-used (by locals and tourists alike) park and beach. The surf doesn't get real big here, so it was a perfect boogie boarding location for our 10 year old, and a nice fishing location for our 14 year old. Plus, BONUS PART, a sea turtle hung out with us one afternoon, eating whatever grows on the rocks just off shore and swimming around our ankles.

“Amazing and Beautiful” Loved staying at this condo. Great accommodations, great services and support staff. The only odd thing was the power kept going out in the master bedroom/bathroom. Other than that, it was a 10!

“Maui memories” We were excited to be coming back back to Makena Surf after staying there two years ago and being so impressed with the unit and the beautiful surroundings back then. We were somewhat fearful that we could even come close to matching that same experience this time around, but this unit exceeded our expectations. We will be back in the near future.

“The Perfect Spot” We absolutely LOVED our stay in this condo, and if we get to go back, will definitely stay there! It was in a nice neutral location, perfect location for beach AND pool access, and beautiful views in the evenings and mornings! The condo had everything we needed, and worked great with our delivery service for our children's needs. The only bummer would be that the AC unit on the back patio blows really hot air, so you can't leave your sliding glass doors open in the morning because of the hot air blowing in.

“Property Management company and resident Manager.” Property management company was supportive and provided very helpful concierge information. Was responsive to simple issue that arose and very professional and pleasant. The resident manager at the building was friendly and very informative. A great experience all around.

“Kamaole Nalu” Small (36 condos) ON the water between Kamaole 1 and 2. Two bd/2 ba, very well maintained, supplied and friendly manager. Perfect place if you do not want the hassle and crowds of a fancy resort. All are individually owned. Also perfect with children, grandchildren, calm beach, snorkeling right in front with turtles. We've been here more than 30 times in the last 40 years.

“Fantastic Stay at Makena Surf” We would definitely return to this property, if not exact condo, at Maken Surf. Great location and ideal building on the big beach.Make sure you see the development plan so you pick the right building - it's worth being beachfront. And when the west coast was in the clouds, we were always sunny. Lovely beach, quiet with just the right amount of action close by. Easy drive to area shops and restaurants. Condo was ideal and services were terrific. If you are looking for beach and pool bar, resort services - this is not your place. There is a beach and pool but no blended drinks being served. But you'll spend three times the money for a hotel room versus having the luxury of spreading out at "home" with your family for meals, movie night and morning breakfast on the lanai. A much nicer way to go and then eat dinner in all the great restaurants. Who wants to shower and dress for breakfast anyway? I'd rather eat on the lanai and relax. The condo has everything you would want for a lovely stay from good bedding, spacious bathrooms,beach chairs, daily maid service, to streaming Netflix and fully stocked kitchen. Rent a car and you are all set.You won't want to leave and you feel more like you live there rather than just being another tourist. Oh and having a washer dryer in the unit was super convenient. Overall... a lovely spot.

“Wonderful week in paradise!” The staff at ali'i Resorts is fantastic and helped us to plan fun adventures for our family throughout our stay. The housekeeping staff was attentitive and worked hard each day to help make our stay great. The property and condo were both very well maintained and beautiful- with spectacular views throughout. One of our favorite features was the patio and the amazing view that we enjoyed while dining outdoors. The beach access was convenient, just a short walk down a paved path to the beach that offered kid friendly boogie boarding waves and rock outcropings for snorkeling. We have stayed in a few of the luxury hotels in Wailea and prefer the relaxed environment of Makena Surf.

“Amazing View!” We had a great stay in Maui at the Kihei Beach Resort. We had a beautiful view of the ocean and enjoyed looking for whales. Fantastic walking beach where we could have walked about six miles in a northerly direction. The ali'i property management met us our first day and checked back with us to see if we had any questions. If we ever return to Maui, we definitely will consider staying here again!

“Clean and spacious with attentive service” This is a nice condo rental for Wailea. While the furnishings and mattresses are not that up to date, the cleanliness and location are very good. I found the kitchen in particular to have very good supplies. When I complained about the terrible coffee maker, it was replaced immediately. I should have complained during our stay instead of afterwards, and we might have been able to make good coffee while there. The cleaning service was very good. I would have appreciated a second set of beach towels as one set is not nearly enough for a beach vacation. I also would say that the master bedroom mattress was not supportive and is probably too old. This unit is on the row closest to the road so if your 2nd bedroom sleepers are light ones, they might be bothered by traffic noise. Overall this is a great condo village to stay at, but these units are old and you are paying for proximity to the beach, not high end units.

“A vacation in paradise!” Our recent stay at Sugar Beach was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The service was excellent in all regards and everyone is so friendly, including the amazing staff and the other guests. The condo where we stayed was superb, with lots of room, all the amenities, and a decor that makes you feel at home from the moment you come through the front door. Your location on the beach is awesome, and despite a little rain and wind we were able to find so many neat things to do during our stay in Maui.What we liked best about our stay was the friendly atmosphere and warmth wherever we went, then being able to come back to this magnificent resort at the end of the day to relax. “In the Top 3!” We have been coming to Maui for over 30 years. In that time, we have stayed in many different condos and Ohanas(private cottages). This unit was definitely in our top 3. The location was perfect! We could easily walk out our door to grocery stores & post office or restaurants. The unit was a little more spacious than most. They have upgraded the kitchen & bathroom, doing an excellent job on the nice big shower. Being located on the ground floor, with a spacious lanai, & near the BBQs, offered us the opportunity to host a couple of gatherings for 10-12 people. The unit is pretty well stocked with almost anything you"ll need. We loved the king size bed and and the matching furnishings. Having a safe for our valuables was an added & well appreciated bonus.The grounds are well kept, with an excellent swimming pool and outdoor kitchen area. The beach is only a block away. The owners are very responsive to any problem that we had. There were only 2 negatives that we found but which we managed to work around. The w/d are not in the unit. Luckily, they are located right outside the door and there was a change machine at the pool, which helped immensely. The laundry so close, made it less of an inconvenience than we thought it would be & we were there for 6 wks, so we did do laundry. The most negative thing is that this complex bills itself as a nonsmoking complex but has no bylaws to enforce No Smoking on residents who choose to smoke on their lanais. All guests seem to follow the rules and restricted their smoking to the designated Smoking Areas. Unfortunately, the owner/neighbor next to us, even after implored by both the owners and ourselves to please not smoke because it drifted directly into our unit, persisted in doing so and was not reasonable when approached. Luckily, this will not deter us from returning to this unit. We had a mostly wonderful stay and sincerely look forward to more stays in the near future and for years to come.

“Sugar Beach sweetness” Sugar Beach has a convenient location to the airport and Lahaina. It's away from the more crowded part of Kihei and right on a very nice beach. Condo was well stocked, clean, and the grounds are very well kept including the pool/spa area. They have water equipment to rent and a nice BBQ area. I have already recommended it to family and friends. Finally, the resort representatives were extremely friendly and checked in periodically throughout our stay to make sure everything was going ok. Lots of Aloha!

“Truely a wonderful time, morning, noon and night.” We were here two weeks, we loved our home on the beach. We would definitely stay in 329 again, we went walking on the beach everyday, twice a day. It was clean, and the maids came in once a week to change your linens for you. The best is waking up in the morning, having a cup of coffee and watching the whales you can see from your lanai. Great for a couple who wants a quiet get away together. Only complaint I have is it needs a new couch. Other than that you'll love it.

“Sugar Beach Best” This is an awesome condo. I just wish there was more availability! Other owners at Sugar Beach should take notice of the remodel. If you haven't updated, you really should! The bathrooms at Sugar Beach are so small and if they aren't renovated, the experience is not great. Love the lightness of the paned doors for the bedroom. Many of the Sugar Beach bedrooms feel like caves. This one is light and bright. Plus, a TV in the bedroom. Bonus!!

“All about the view” This place is a bit away from the action and requires one to get into the car for anything from restaurants to nicer public beaches. BUT the views are absolutely fantastic! Sitting down for dinner on our lanai was very special. The sunset was beautiful. The complex was nice with all that you really need: BBQs, Pool, small beach, etc... The unit is well located on the 4th floor to maximise the view. Although the Kitchen has been renovated some other aspects of the unit probably needs renovations. Everything is functional, but aesthetics are just OK. I would still highly recommend.
