Topsail Island Banana Beach Cottage

Surf City house

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“Great weekend getaway with friends” I was pleasantly surprised by the crisp and clean look of the cottage. The renovations are obviously recent as described in the listing. I travelled with several friends to enjoy a quick getaway. The master bedroom is huge. And, the other 2 bedrooms provided plenty of space for everyone to sleep comfortably in their own beds. We didn’t do any cooking. We made sandwiches and ate out. But, I noticed that the kitchen had everything you need to prepare a meal. And, the stainless steel appliances looked new to me. There was a very lovely and very large laundry room … which always comes in handy at the beach. It really seems like the owner thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable. There were even some books and board games out that we all enjoyed. I had never been to Topsail Beach before, but I have to say I fell in love with this beach! It’s a nice sandy beach with gentle, warm waves. And, it wasn’t crowded. I didn’t like carrying my own umbrella and chair. But honestly, it’s just a few steps to the beach. And, the owner supplies the chairs and umbrellas so at least I didn’t have to rent or buy them. For the location and price, I feel like I got a great deal!

“A Classy Vacation Experience in any Season” My brother, who has problems walking, and I stayed at Sunnybank for a little under a week in the early spring when the Corolla horses are foaling. The layout of the well-appointed, three-storey main building was perfect for our needs: the fabulous view from the top floor living room provided the inspiration for him to walk up the grand stair case, and he could take the elevator when he was having problems walking. (There are two bedrooms with walk-in showers to accommodate people who have a problem walking.) It rained the first two days, which might have been gloomy any where else, but the library of videos, and stashes of games and playing cards gave us the opportunity to connect in ways that we hadn't since we were children. The fabulous cook's kitchen and multiple eating areas can accommodate a wedding party, family reunion, or any get away time one might want. Mine was a working vacation and the office there, which is outfitted with excellent Ethernet and WiFi connections plus a daybed for napping, was a better arrangement than my office at home. Comfort and casual, yet classy ambience abounds at Sunnybank. An excellent find!

“A great family tradition” Once again, our second Thanksgiving in your condo was wonderful!! We enjoyed walks on the beach, visiting the aquarium, and riding the ferry to South Port. Only Wednesday was too cool for outside, so we sat in the hot tub. Thanks again for sharing your home with us!

“Very Family Friendly Beach House” We enjoyed our stay at this family friendly beach house very much. It has a lot for the kids from indoor game tables to outdoor volleyball, tire swing, basketball and pool with a little cabana to get out of the sun if needed. The 6 person golf cart was great to get back and forth from the beach but it is definitely walk-able as well. Sherrie is very available with any issues you may have. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with kids & teens. We had 20 people including a couple teens 2 babies & 2 8year olds and we all had plenty of room and beds and things to do. We always take turns cooking and there is everything you would need in the kitchen. Love the 2 fridges and 2 dishwashers that was perfect. There is a couple seafood restaurants that we ordered in steamer pots from but you have everything you need to do it yourself there if you wanted to. We didn't have any pets with us this time but this is a pet friendly rental as well. All in all a great rental for family reunions.

5 bedroom Beach House Corolla NC close to beach

Corolla house

5 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 13

“Great for large families” We would gladly stay at Kelly's Beach Retreat again. Corolla is one of the nicer parts of OBX despite being farther from the southern portions. Everything we needed was nearby and there was no part of OBX (except maybe Ocracoke) that we couldn't easily make a day trip of. The Currituck lighthouse complex is particularly close and was quite nice to visit. It was also the only lighthouse open for climbing during the first week of April. Weather was warm, chilly and everything in between, but mostly pleasant. There is plenty to see and do on the Outer Banks even for non-beachy people like my better half, who particularly enjoyed the Wright Brothers Memorial and Roanoke Island's Festival Park and Manteo waterfront shopping. The beach is an easy walk from the house even for young children and had more shells for collecting than anywhere else we've been. Also a great beach for long walks. Water was icy cold due to the time of year, but we had a great time anyway. The house was great and just what our large family of ten needed, with a bedroom to spare that we didn't use. It was very clean, updated, well-maintained and well-equipped, yet not so fancy that we had to worry all week about our kids breaking expensive or fragile decorations and furnishings. You could tell the place was set up with children in mind, which we appreciated. Lots of movies, games and cable TV for the kids, as well as beach toys, umbrellas, beach chairs, cart (which we also used as a beach stroller for our two-year-old) all provided. The ocean view from the third-floor deck was quite nice, and I enjoyed several sunrises there. You definitely are close enough to hear the waves, which I enjoy. All in all, it was a very enjoyable stay, and Glenn was a pleasure to work with. Two thumbs up.
