“Central location with conveniences of home” My husband, myself, and our two school-aged children just got back from Playa del Carmen. This unit is in a perfect location. It is a short walk to all the hustle and bustle of 5th Ave., 4-5 grocery stores, the ADO bus station, etc. If you have a car, it is a central location to tour Tulum, Coba, Chichen Itza, Ek' Balam, XCaret, Cancun, etc. The owners (and front desk staff) went out of their way to make sure that we were situated. The apartment has all of the conveniences that American travelers are used to. Because of the in-unit washer/dryer, we were able to travel light. The fully equipped kitchen also allowed us to eat in when we were too tired from excursions to eat out. The Wifi was also indispensable for telecommuting or for researching places that we wanted to visit (especially if we wanted the discounted on-line pricing for places like XCaret). We had a great time.

“Luxury Villa in a Lovely Setting” Casa Susana is just as described and pictured on Vrbo: a lovely, well-maintained luxury villa with many comfortable outdoor spaces for relaxing. The property manager is quite efficient. A few notes to help others decide whether this is the right house for them: 1. There are no shops or restaurants near the house other than a few hotels. That means cabbing or driving for groceries and almost everything else. It's also a long hike along some uneven pavement from the house to the entrance of the complex and the start of Playa's shopping and restaurant district. A car or cab is essential for things farther north. 2. The beach is closer than shopping, but still a stroll. The owners provide beach chairs and other equipment in a locker near the gate, and plenty of beach towels near the back door, so be sure to carry them with you when you go. 3. We only needed three bedrooms so the house worked well for us. The master bedroom occupies the full third floor; the other two are on the second floor. All are en suite. The windowless fourth bedroom, formerly the maid's room, is on the basement level. While fully furnished and seemingly comfortable, it is dark and relatively isolated. Access to the rooftop pool is from the balcony outside the master bedroom, which means one has to go through that bedroom to use it. 4. The open-air lounge of the Reef Hotel is directly across the street from Casa Susana. On two of our seven nights, there were loud parties there, complete with throbbing bass and drums. Fortunately, the sleeping areas of the bedrooms face away from the Reef and the parties didn't go too late. Still, bringing a pair of earplugs would be wise. Finding the house after dark was a problem. Here's the simple solution: Go to the Reef Hotel on Paseo Xamanha, the main street through the complex. As you face the front entrance of the hotel, Sayil is the street immediately to the left and Casa Susana is the second house on Sayil from the intersection.

“Beautiful, Relaxing, Clean, Safe and Very accommodating.” Our whole experience from getting off the plane to getting to the Villa was perfect. All the instructions and maps helped us very much. The grounds of the Villa were beautiful with the pools, hammocks and lounge chairs. Inside the Villa was beautiful as well. There was everything we needed and then some. We were greeted with a gift basket of fruit, munchies, and beer and soda in the refrigerator. We got the low down on the neighborhood from Catherine. Catherine came to the Villa on our first day to give us all the info we needed and some tips on the best local restaurants etc...She gave us all of her contact phone numbers if we needed anything. The maid service was also top notch. She came everyday and she did an exceptional job. The villa was close to everything, stores, restaurants, churches, parks, bars and grocery stores. We usually walked everywhere or took a taxi if it was over five miles. We did not find a need to rent a car or motor bike. Everything about this trip to Cozumel was spectacular. This Villa is in a safe neighborhood. We never felt uneasy, we always felt safe, even walking home at night from dinner or music in the park. There might be bars on the windows, gates and triple locks, but I guess that's just how it is in Cozumel. There was this eatery/restaurant up the block that was in this women's living room. She did not speak english so she brought us in the kitchen to show us what was for lunch, and we pointed at what we wanted. I guess we need to brush up on our Spanish, she made the best food in town. We will be coming back very soon. We met a lot of really nice people and can't wait to come back again to visit or maybe even stay longer than seven days. “Just excellent in every way” If you have a chance to spend a few days at this resort, just do it. Pick any number of positive adjectives and this place has it. Relaxing, fun, exciting, entertaining, amazing, beautiful, educational, welcoming, fancy, clean... I could go on. This place has everything you could want. The food is great, the staff is super nice. They called me every day just to remind me that "if there's anything we need please let them know" and they meant it. The concierge will get you anything you need. They clean your room whenever you want and they do "turn down service"!. Room service is beyond whatever I've experienced before - they actually come in and set you a beautiful table for your meal. We had a babysitter, we took a car and it was easy to get it in and out, we saw Cirque du Soleil, we swam in so many pools (pools are salt water instead of chlorine btw). We saw lots of wildlife (crocodiles, flamingos, bats, iguanas everywhere) and we swam in the most beautiful ocean ever imagined. Seriously. GO Also, Dave was great.
