“A great retreat” Staying here while on vacation (a bit off-season) was a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of home. The front porch was a great place to relax and play games with friends, the full kitchen allowed us to share great meals, private lake access made kayaking a blast, and proximity to local restaurants and shops as well as the Chataqua Institute made our trip the perfect combination of fun & relaxation!

“awesome beautiful place” I can't say enough about this. Place, perfect I guess Serene, peaceful,beautiful, quiet. Djuna the owner is Sweet and very efficient and provides every detail. The Whole are is perfect Oct a getaway, things to do places To shop,eat or just cuddle in with a fire. We will Definetly be returning as soon as we can.:)))

“Best Vacation!” I asked each of my kids to sum our stay at O'Cottage and they each yelled "Best vacation!" My wife agreed! It was great to take a break from the whirlwind of kids' activites to spend a week here in peace and quiet. The location on the lake is easily one of the best. We loved waking up to the water and going to bed after the campfire dwindled. The house is spacious and tidy and the outdoor shower is a treat. The owner is quick to respond to questions and the booking process was easy. Would I recommend this place to a friend? No! I want it all for myself! Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with my family!

“Unique and beautiful...heavy on the character...” I'm a frequent visitor of the 'ette. I love the location (right off the main drag) but enjoy its solitude (wooded median...long drive way). Its sort of like a studio apartment in the woods. its close to many of the wineries, The Red Newt and Stone Cat restaurants and a gas/quick mart. When Wine tasting its easy to swing by and change clothes/use the facilities/take a nap (comfy beds) and unload your recent purchases. The owners are friendly and helpful. The grounds are spacious with a nice walking trail. For what you get for the price its really a great secret. So why share a secret? I'm not there long enough or frequent enough to keep it to myself...like a cool song, I shouldn't be singing it alone (especially if you've heard my voice).

“Connecting with the land” My girlfriend (Katherine) and I stayed here this past weekend to celebrate our anniversary and we couldn't have been happier. Mary and Russel are incredibly nice people, and so are their miniature horses and donkeys! The cabin is absolutely beautiful with a fascinating history. I'm pretty sure Katie's life was changed by this weekend, as she now wants to own a farm with donkeys. I've already recommended this place to many of my friends and will continue to do so. Awesome rates for what you get! We are definitely coming back next year, if not in the next few months. I would love to see what its like to stay there with a blanket of snow on the ground. “A great get away weekend” My family visited Cooperstown in Oct. of 2009 and stayed in this wonderful house. The location was great: it wasn't too far of a drive into downtown Cooperstown and all the attractions but far enough out of town to enjoy the peacefulness of the surrounding area. This property was well kept and has water access to the beautiful lake just across the street. The views of the lake and the surrounding woods can be seen from almost every room of the house; I especially loved the rooms in the front of the house which were all windows and you could enjoy the amazing views while eating meals. This house contained an amazing kitchen (newly renovated it seemed) and bathrooms while keeping with the charm and style of the area and surrounding houses. My family and I really enjoyed our stay here and look forward to returning soon hopefully.

“Great time” We had a great time in this house. First of all, there was not a speck of dirt when we moved in. The house is perfectly situated. 10 mins from Luray, 20 from Shenandoah River Outfitters and 10 from the Thorton Gap. We did a canoeing trip, two greats hikes and a rafting trip all in 4 full days. We could've easily stayed for more. We're looking forward to staying again...
