“We will return to this perfect apartment!” My husband, mother, sister-in-law and I stayed at the Spanish Steps Apartment on Via della Mercede for 5 nights at the end of October. Our stay here was perfect in every way. The owner, David, was incredibly helpful with the booking process, assisting with logistics, and making recommendations. After long flights from the USA, we greatly appreciated David arranging for a complimentary car service from the airport to the apartment. We were met at the apartment by the manager who helped us settle in quickly, left us with groceries, and oriented us to the city and nearby attractions. She also arranged our transportation back to the airport. The apartment is more spacious than it appears in the pictures, exceptionally clean, quiet and comfortable. We had everything we needed including access to a laptop, WIFI, and printer. We had plenty of room and privacy for four guests. The location is perfect for getting to all the major sites either by walking or by the nearby taxi stand (public transportation is also close by, we just didn't happen to use it). The neighborhood is safe and charming. A favorite restaurant recommended by David and within walking distance was Trattoria Dal Cavalier Gino. David also recommended a company that offers personalized tours with private guides, called Rome and Tuscany Tours. We booked a scooter tour of the city, a walking tour of ancient Rome, and a day trip to Pompeii and Positano, and all were excellent and unforgettable experiences. We really can't say enough about our wonderful experience with The Spanish Steps Apartment on Via della Mercede and our host, David. We look forward to our next trip to Rome and staying again at this lovely apartment.

“Modern apartment/great location” The apartment was modern, clean, very well lit and fabulously located. We were able to walk everywhere and enjoyed many good restaurants in the area as well. Francesco was a gracious and accommodating landlord who had information in the apartment for restaurants, sight seeing, maps and almost anything else you would want. We very much enjoyed our one month stay in Rome at this comfortable and well-appointed apartment.

“Highly recommended Roman apartment” My family and I recently enjoyed a weeks stay in this lovely apartment. The price was very reasonable for the amenities and location provided. Our stay was very comfortable and it didn't take long to travel to any of the major sightseeing locations. Gabriele was a very gracious host throughout the stay and was happy to help. Would definitely recommend this apartment, especially as an alternative to a hotel. Thanks again for your hospitality Gabriele.

“Perfect apartment in the middle of Rome” My husband and I stayed here during our recent trip to Rome and could not have been happier. The apartment is within walking distance to many of the sites is the city, i.e. Palentine Hill, Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, etc. We even walked over the Piazza Navona and Campo de Fiori one of the days. There are tons of great restaurants within walking distance as well. This apartment is also right by the Metro, which made it very easy to get to the Vatican and some of the other sites a bit further out. The apartment itself was fantastic. Very modern bathroom and a fully stocked fridge! We loved being able to make ourselves a Nespresso every morning that we sipped while we planned our daily activities. Clara even left us the most delicious blood orange juice, which was a treat for us americans :) The neighborhood is quite lively on the weekends with lots of little bars in the area. The one downfall was the height of the ceiling. My husband and I are both close to 6 feet tall and had to worry about bumping our head on the door frame coming in and out of the apartment. If you are on the shorter side, this place will be perfect for you. However, if you are over 6 feet tall, you may be crouching your entire time in the apartment. Overall, the place was wonderful and we will book it again our next time in Rome.

“Comfortable apartment in excellent location” We stayed here for 5 nights recently. After a warm welcome from Lucia who kindly let us leave our luggage in the apartment after our early morning arrival in Rome we went for a stroll and within no time found ourselves in the impressive St Peter's Square. Very handy location for the Vatican and close to trains and buses to get to all parts of Rome. Some nice restaurants and excellent gelato nearby. Good aircon for the hot Rome days in late June, comfortable beds and lovely rooftop views. Lucia was excellent to deal with from start to finish and we had a wonderful stay in Rome with this great home base.

“Wonderfully relaxing, but convenient to get to Rome.” Stefano is the bomb and the apartment is very comfortable. we had a bit of a car emergency on the way, and he was extremely gracious about allowing us to change our dates of arrival/departure at the last minute. Absolutely fantastic communications and support. The apartment is in one of the 4-5 buildings located within a large gated area so your kids can run around and play very safely. It is far enough from Rome that you are almost "rural", but close enough to drive to the metro, park, and get into the city for the obligatory touristy things. It was great to get out of Rome - very hot, busy, crowded. The first morning we were delighted to hear the "hee-haws" of the pet burros (no, they did not wake us up). The apartment has screens! Which means you can see and smell the great outdoors, without the bugs. The beds are comfortable, and there is plenty of space. The kitchen was very user-friendly, lots of pots, dishes, and utensils. The shower was a little small, but still very nice with a rain-shower. Plenty of towels, linen, etc. Highly recommend.

“Comfortable Place, Nice Neighborhood, Friendly Hosts.” Stayed five nights over the holidays including New Year's Eve, which is celebrated with great enthusiasm in this quiet neighborhood just outside of Rome. The sky was filled with fireworks at midnight, but the tranquil neighborhood returned the next day. The apartment was very spacious and immaculate, with lovely decorations and nice furniture. There were five of us and it could easily handle more. It had a nice kitchen in which we made several meals. We also picked up dinner to-go at the restaurant on the corner one evening and shopped at the local grocery store nearby. It was a pleasure to be in a real Italian neighborhood away from the crowds of tourists. It is easy to get into Rome. We had a car and, on host Maurizio's advice, drove to the Circus Maximus and parked without a problem, only about a twenty minute trip. There is also regular bus service just up the street. Ostia antica, which is well worth a visit, is very close as well. Rome has many must-see sites, but we found that we thoroughly enjoyed retreating to this lovely apartment in a quiet neighborhood after a day of battling the crowds. Maurizio is easy to communicate with, speaking perfect English, and his mother was an added treat. She speaks no English at all but checked us in and showed us how to work everything in the apartment. She even took us to the grocery store on the night of our arrival.

“Lovely Italian villa” Our family of 2 kids (8 & 11) and 2 adults spent a lovely 5 days in Cala Sabina. The pool and the 2 friendly dogs were a hit, the villa is very well equipped with everything you need if you would like to cook for yourself and the views are beautiful. Nicola the owner is very helpful and even provided us with home made (still warm) tomato sauce, homemade olive oil , jam and limoncello to complement the stay. There is a good pizzeria down the road if you prefer eating out. We would definitely recommend this villa to others visiting the area . Be warned if you drive in and out of rome for a day trip you may need nerves of steel to negotiate the Roman streets especially at evening rush hour (getting to the villa from the airport and around the countryside was no problem)- taking the train is probably a better bet .

“Great quiet apartment in the very heart of historic Rome” Lucia's apartment is very comfortable, quiet, and impeccably clean. The bedroom is a good size, with plenty of storage, and the sofabed in the living room is extremely comfortable to sleep on. Lucia is an excellent hostess, thinking of every detail and information. WiFi works great. The cab service she booked for us was also excellent. The photos are accurate, and the locatton can't be beat. It was a wonderful stay. Thank you Lucia.

“Stylish, clean, comfortable--great terrace!” My wife and I rented the Flower Apartment from October to December of 2014, and we really enjoyed our stay there. Although the apartment is located in Monteverde outside the Centro Storico, the location is excellent-- the apartment is one block away from the #8 tram, a 20-minute ride that takes you through Trastevere to Piazza Venezia whenever you want to go into central Rome. Busses to the Vatican and the Gianicolo are also easy to catch. Also, the apartment is one block away from an excellent outdoor market where you can buy the freshest fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, and breads. A family-owned Sicilian restaurant, Mediterraneo, with great food is nextdoor—we ate there six times! Around the corner is a great gelato shop, Tony’s, which we could never resist. The apartment itself is on the fifth floor with no elevator, but we didn’t mind the climb too much to the comfortable accommodations. The kitchen is fully equipped, although there’s no microwave oven; the heating and air conditioning worked well; and the washing machine, while a little quirky, was soon solved and cleaned our clothes well. The bedroom and living room are roomy and comfortable, but the nicest feature is the plant and flower-decorated terrace, on which we enjoyed many relaxing meals and glasses of wine. We also found ourselves enjoying the tasteful and stylish photos, artworks, and books throughout the apartment. A helpful feature is the desktop computer that has Skype and is useful for finding bus routes and museum information. The owner and her staff were always very helpful, but more than helpful, they were kind, friendly, hospitable, and understanding—people that we came to love then and we miss now. When our last day at the Flower Apartment came, we did not want to leave; it truly felt like home.

“Migliore appartamento in Roma!!” My friends and I feel very fortunate to have found this gem of a place to stay in Rome! The apartment is spacious and comfortable with many amenities - - elevator, computer, modern kitchen and bathrooms, and of course la terrazza! The weather was perfect in mid-October; after full and tiring days of sightseeing, we could relax and enjoy this fabulous al fresco setting. The location of the apartment is ideal with a grocery store next door, a good restaurant across the street, a short walk to the Metro, and a quick train ride to the Termini station. The owner,Ida,responded to my initial inquiry immediately and to all our follow-up questions as well, and Paola, her daughter who lives across the hall, is a great concierge. We are especially grateful to Paola's efforts in returning an important item that was left behind. Grazie mille.
