BRIDLE COTTAGE, pet friendly, character holiday cottage in Settle, Ref 2781
Settle house
2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4
“Comfortable and Surprisingly Spacious” Bridle Cottage is a comfortable and attractive stone cottage on three floors. It is conveniently located down a back street in the middle of Settle, just a few yards off the market square, meaning that all of the shops/amenities which Settle has to offer are within very easy reach. The house itself is surprisingly spacious, especially for the money, and includes an upstairs study (perfect for writing postcards in peace). The kitchen is rather small, but contains everything which is essential to holiday catering, including things which are sometimes overlooked, such a as cafetiere. The front room contains a log-burning stove, which is easy to use and earns the property its tick in the 'romantic getaway' box. One limitation is that the front room is rather overlooked by passing pedestrians, which means that you have to choose between privacy and having the curtains closed whilst you are in during the daytime. Also, the plastic windows don't particularly suit the traditional stone construction of the house and give a certain cheapness to a house which otherwise verges on the luxurious. Our holiday was done by train, so I can't vouch for the parking arrangements.

BOOKILBER BARN, family friendly, luxury holiday cottage, with hot tub in
Long Preston house
6 bedrooms / 6 bathrooms / sleeps 12
“Magical Luxury Place” We were part of a group of adult Anglo / American couples that spent a week at the Bookilber Barn. The property is accessed by a two mile bumpy, gravel lane through open fields with not another property in sight. This caused us to question if we were on the right route even though the directions warned us about the access lane. Then all of a sudden this wonderful stone barn appears. It looks nice from the outside. When you step inside you find that you have entered into the world of an imaginative interior designer. The Bookilber Barn is a first class set up. Everything is top drawer. One fact you need to be aware of is that only four of the six bedrooms are suitable for adult couples. This fact was made clear on the owner's web-site but it was not clear on the Sykes Cottages web-site at the time of our booking.

CRAVEN HOUSE, pet friendly, character holiday cottage, with a garden in
Skipton house
7 bedrooms / 6 bathrooms / sleeps 14
“Comfortable, well-equipped and spacious” A group of family and friends with 3 small children, we found Craven House to have everything we needed. Plenty of bathrooms and ensuites, large well-equipped kitchen with aga. The house was well heated. In a good position for most things - Tesco literally round the corner, and the centre of Skipton an easy walk. Lovely park for the children within walking distance. Excellent pub for meals on the roundabout on the Keighly Road. Downside of going in March was nearby children's farms weren't open till april. Railway also restricted times then.

“great cottage in great location, highly recommended.” We were very impressed with Sandy Cottage it was beautifully furnished real home from home. The location was fantastic and was enjoyed by all. We have a puppy and were a bit dubious about a dog friendly cottage having not used one before but we were pleasantly surprised and Sandy Cottage is a credit to its owner.

LAUREL BANK COTTAGE, pet-friendly, country holiday cottage, with a garden in
Embsay house
5 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 13
“Spacious Family accommodation, quiet village location” We, a Family party of 2 young grandchildren, 2 parents, and 4 grandparents, stayed at Laurel Bank Cottage in February 2013. The room sizes were well above average, the kitchen/diner could sit 12 comfortably, as could the lounge. The bedrooms were very spacious. Some outside space for the 2 young children was very welcome. The views around, from all windows, were spectacular. A moderate half-hour walk to Skipton, through the woods, was enjoyed by all. Super Family accommodation.

1 BRIDGE END, pet friendly, character holiday cottage, with a garden in
Grassington house
5 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 8
“Breathteaking view, cosy house, perfect place for tours, but no” Bridge End 1 has ample space for six people, wonderfully and tastefully furnished rooms, and the most magnificent view out of the bay window of the living room. Hiking tours can be started right from the property, and still there is no car needed for grocery shopping - the "center" of Grassington is only a five minutes' walk away. Backdraws: The room in the basement felt a bit damp, so we did not use it (and we did not need to - there were enough beds for the six of us upstairs). And the traffic across the bridge that gave the house its name is a little bit loud, but the cars' noise mixes up with the very soothing rushing of the river.

CLIFFORD HOUSE FARM, pet friendly, character holiday cottage, with a garden in
Buckden house
5 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 12
“A cracking weekend” The ouse was excellent for our needs. Enough bedrooms to sleep us all. Games to keep us entertained, a week functioned kitchen. Wood and fire to keep us warm. From the village we were able to walk straight out of the house on to an excellent walk along the Dale tops without needing a car. Only downside - its a shame the pub has closed down - hope it reopens soon.

Todmorden house

“Best cottage we've stayed in” Fabulous cottage in a wonderful location. Service very warm and friendly - made us feel very welcome. Tea, coffee, sugar, milk and a bowl of fruit was waiting for us on arrival - wonderful gesture, just what you need after a long journey. All four bedrooms were en-suite and the master bedroom was luxurious. Pub located fairly close and the local town wasn't too far away. Have already booked this cottage for our holiday next year.

“Beautiful location, perfect cottage, true relaxation - bliss!” The cottage was first class, cosy and suited our needs completely. The owners were extremely welcoming and provided us with information about the area. Literature was also available in the cottage. The cottage had every implement you could wish for when cooking. We were fortunate enough to stay the last week in March when the country had very hot weather - early mini heatwave! We left the car most days and walked the Dales Way, over stiles, through the sheep and met lots of locals to chat with. Ilkley was lovely, beer cheap in Weatherspoons! We have already booked again for next year!

PACK HORSE STABLES, character holiday cottage, with hot tub in Hebden Bridge
Heptonstall house
1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2
“Lovely cottage in the countryside” My partner and I visited here in march when we had the heavy snow and we loved every minute of it! It felt surreal being in a hot tub surrounded by a layer of thick snow, incredibly romantic! The cottage was lovely and clean, the underfloor heating was a bonus and all we needed after long walks in the snow to warm us up again, the bed was massive and so comfortable! The cakes on arrival were a lovely touch and so was the complementary wood for the log burner! Overall a fantastic cottage, we can't wait to come back and experience it in the sunshine instead!
