Description
Carrickport cottage is a fabulous stone built cottage nestled in the peaceful and picturesque countryside of lovely Leitrim. It is situated adjacent to Carrickport lake which boasts some of the best fishing in the area, we also have boats available for hire, with or without an outboard engine, pre booking essential.
Carrickport has been finished to a very high standard to offer you comfort and relaxation during your stay. The cottage has a lovely sociable open plan living, dining, kitchen area, family bathroom, three very spacious bedrooms, with the lake view master bedroom being en suite. Carrick Port Cottage also has a fantastic games room upstairs, with a pool table and air hockey table, board games and books to read for all ages. Flat screen tv and dvd player in main living room.
Carrickport Cottage is ideal for all types of holidays including activity based breaks. Amenities close by include local country pub and shop within walking distance. There are 3 fishing lakes within a radius of 7 Km''s. The area is a haven for walking treks and fantastic mountain hiking and hill walking.
You can also make use of the newly opened Shannon Blue Way, ideal for canoeing and canal walks. Check out river mania or adventure gently something for all the family.
Electric bikes are available for hire locally in Leitrim village from Electic bike trails
Moorlands Equestrian center is located in nearby Drumshanbo, giving you the opportunity to see the beautiful local countryside on horse back.
If you are seeking more of a Relax and Revive holiday Carrickport Cottage is perfect for you. Enjoy long walks in the countryside, lakeside meditation and simply enquire with the owners as to the availability of the on site massage and reflexology treatments to make it a truly holistic experience.
Carrick-on-Shannon is situated a short distance away from Carrickport Cottage approx.10k. Carrick on Shannon is in south county Leitrim approx 40 mins from Sligo and 1hr45mins from Dublin. The area is famous for its river Shannon cruises, it’s lakes and fishing, golf courses, wonderful restaurants and of course it's traditional Irish music, with music sessions to be found on most nights of the week in Carrick-on-Shannon and surrounding towns.

When in Carrick on Shannon a must is to visit Costello’s Chapel, the second smallest chapel in the world or enjoy a wander around the farmer’s market on a Thursday.
Other activities in the area include go karting, indoor shooting, an afternoon on the Moonriver Shannon cruiser, Tullyboy pet farm.
If you are craving some sea air Sligo’s Strandhill and Rosse’s point are only 45 minutes away!
Lough Key Forest Park is only a 20 minute drive away with its expansive forest walks, playgrounds, Boda Borg and it’s high wire zip lining "Zipit" . As well as it’s unique "Tree canopy" walk, Segway tours, bike hire and boat hire to row out to the castle on the island.

Strandhill and Rosses Point golf courses are also within a 45 minute drive.
To get to Carrick on Shannon from Dublin follow the N4 Sligo Road all the way to Carrick-on-Shannon. Or simply relax and get the train from Connolly Station, Dublin which will leave you only 10 KM from the property.

“Just how we remembered”
This was our second visit to Carrickport Cottage and again it didn’t disappoint. It’s just so relaxing. Such a great space for all the family to enjoy a week away together. On the rainy days the kids enjoyed playing pool and air hockey in the games room and when the sun shone we enjoyed a bbq and a few pints of Guinness. Such a lovely part of the world - lovely Leitrim.

“Fabulous!!”
We have just returned from the most fabulous week at Carrickport Cottage. The cottage itself is fantastic. Very spacious, spotlessly clean and has everything needed for a relaxing family break. The games room was a big hit with both adults and teenagers alike. We were blessed with sunshine for our whole week and made the most of our surroundings with family bbqs. Carrick-on-Shannon is a beautiful wee village with great hospitality in McHughs pub - who pour a great pint of Guinness. Unfortunately we didn’t get to meet Helen as she was away on holiday, but was only ever a phone call away, with Keith was on hand if we needed anything. Although everything was great and we didn’t need to bother him. Daisy, our dog, loved the lake and enjoyed running about in the large garden. Moon River cruise is a must. A lovely boat trip down the Shannon. Would highly recommend Carrickport Cottage, and all the communication and updates from Helen throughout the booking was excellent. Thank you Helen and Keith.

“Great holiday home for families”
Had a wonderful 7 night stay in late March/early April. Cottage is beautiful, well equiped and in a lovely quiet setting. Kids (and adults) loved the upstairs games room. Rooms are very spacious, comfortable and cosy. Helen and Keith were extremely helpful. Hope to return in the future.

“absolutely wonderful holiday!”
from the very beginning of booking this holiday it has been a pleasure. Helen answered all of our questions including when she was away herself! thanx to her air code we found the cottage easily. the cottage itself was even better than we expected. clean, spacious and with everything we needed. the games room was perfect. also having board games and a good cable tv selection added to make it a very special holiday. the only thing that could have possibly made it any better was to meet the dogs earlier....we wanted to take them home with us! a brilliant holiday with no complaints and would recommend it to all! our thanks to Helen and Kieth.

“Perfect family friendly spacious cottage with added games room”
This was our second time staying at Carrickport Cottage and I can highly recommend everything about it, it's beautifully presented and has everything on hand for young children, including the owner's lovely friendly dogs! The games room has been a big hit with the children and adults alike on both our visits and is a real bonus to the cottage. It is very spacious with three bedrooms and two bathrooms and the setting is really tranquil. It's very close to the beautiful town of Carrick on Shannon and other local attractions. Many thanks to Helen again for accommodating us and we hope to return again!
