Description from owner

Description

La Baronnie is a traditional French rustic gîte converted from animal stables and sleeps two to six people in three bedrooms. The gîte and heated pool have stunning south-facing views across the Dordogne valley. Ideally situated close to Sarlat with easy access to the many local chateaux and picturesque medieval towns including Beynac, Castelnaud and Domme.

Cycling and canoeing on the Dordogne and Vézère valleys. Several excellent restaurants and local boulangerie nearby. A welcome pack of groceries and bottle of regional wine await your arrival.

Bedroom 1 with double bed. Bedroom 2 with a double bed and en-suite shower room, and bedroom 3 with 2 single beds. Both double bedrooms have electric radiators. Both bathrooms with shower, wash basin, wc and heated towel rails. Kitchen is fully equipped and includes, hob, oven, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, Nespresso coffee machine and toaster. The kitchen/diner includes and table and six chairs. Living room with two sofas and easy chair, TV with UK free-to-air channels and a Blu-ray/DVD player. Wireless fibre Internet access is available throughout the site. Bed linen and towels, including towels for poolside use, are included. Bed linen and towels are changed weekly; a charge will be made for change of bed linen/towels within a week. A small safe is installed in bedroom 1.

The Gîte has a private patio with round table and 6 chairs and Weber charcoal barbecue. The patio has a tonnelle for extra shade and privacy. Our 10m x 3m heated pool is available for the exclusive use of our guests. The pool area is not overlooked and provides spectacular views of the Dordogne valley. This too has a large tonnelle at the far end to provide shade for all.

Because the gîte is located on a hillside, there are many steps and the garden is on different levels. Access to the upstairs of the gîte is by steep stairs and is therefore not recommended for anyone with poor mobility.

We try to make everyones holiday the best we can by offering a welcome pack with wine, to cocktails on the terrace overlooking the pool on the first night so that we can offer advise and recommend places to visit. “A hidden gem.”

Reviewed 8 Oct 2015

This lovely property is tucked away above the main road between St. Cyprien and Sarlat with beautiful views across the Dordogne valley either from the very pretty garden terrace or the pool. The accommodation we stayed in is very comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped, with space outside for eating al-fresco. Our excellent hosts greeted us on the first night with drinks on the terrace and figs from the trees. They recommended a local restaurant, the Epicure, for a special meal which we had on our last evening - delicious! There is an abundance of chateaux to visit nearby. We visited the beautiful Chateau Les Milandes, former home of Josephine Baker, and notable also for spectacular falconry displays. The small town of Dome is a must for spectacular views of the Dordogne river and valley below. A lovely place to stay.

“Wonderful Dordogne Week”

Reviewed 19 Jul 2015

A great place to stay , to explore the Dordogne Valley. Shona and STeve are great hosts for the Gite , lovely welcome drink , which was a nice touch. Everything you could want in the gite , including good wi-fi and UK cable channels on TV. Marvellous heated pool. The gite is located in a very convenient place, close to St Cyprien village , which has a supermarket and bakery and many restaurants. Also close to Sarlat. The Gite is not air conditioned, but the nights cool down and you can open the windows wide to allow air into the bedrooms. We were there during a very hot week. All in all we loved our stay and would like to return.

“Highly Recommend”

Reviewed 26 May 2015

Booking La Petite Baronnie was on the back of a recommendation from a friend of mine and i was not disappointed. The Gite itself was lovely, there was a very welcoming feel about it and above all was clean and well kept. The location of La Petite Baronnie is simply beautiful, the views are incredible and is very close to so many attractions that the Dordogne has to offer. Whether it is the History of Beynac or the views of Domme, there is something for all the family, very close to home. I would just like to point out aswell and Steve and Shona Wisedale, the owners of La Petit Baronnie were also very welcoming and accommodating to our needs. Meeting them was a pleasure and i will be returning.
