Description from owner

Description

This bijoux little property has been decorated to a high standard. In the most prime of locations in this beautiful little town, it is literally a stones throw from all the towns attractions, its famous museum of modern art, stunning church, main square, the city Ramparts (Rue des Remparts!), excellent restaurants, cafe's and funky shops not to mention the bustling and picturesque Saturday market. Despite this, it is quiet being situated on a narrow cobbled alleyway parallel to the main street.

There are two ensuite bedrooms (bathrooms are modern but compact) on the ground (this room has twin beds that can be zipped together to make a double) and first floor, a modern and well kitted out kitchen and a small skylit office on the second floor and a chic sitting room on the 4th floor which has a great view of the church tower from the railing. There is a wood-fire in the sitting room and a small enclosed but attractive terrace with a barbecue. There is double glazing throughout for the winter months. Perfect for a romantic break or for 2 couples/families of up to four.

Getting around

We do recommend hiring a car to get the most out of the region although there is a good and regular bus service to Perpignan. Bicycle hire is possible in the town.

Interaction with guest

We live in Kenya, but we have an excellent management team who meet and greet and show you around the house. They are on hand in case of any problems. There is plenty of literature in the house on local and regional attractions.

“Great central location - charming town house”

Reviewed 6 Jan 2014

Very comfortable and characterful apartment - 4 rooms on 4 floors ! Kitchen was nicely laid out and well equipped. Bathrooms were tight but otherwise fine. Note that there is no outside space and no real views. However the beds are very comfortable and we found the fire very cosy in the winter !

“Beautifully decorated, well equipped and comfortable property in the gorgeous town of Ceret.”

Reviewed 5 Sep 2012

The location of this lovely property could not be better situated,as it is, mere steps from the main attractions of Ceret. But for all it's proximity to the restaurants and shops, it manages to have a quiet, peaceful atmosphere. We were even undisturbed by the bustling Sat. morning market. The house is beautifully furnished and decorated and the beds are wonderfully comfortable. It was a pleasure to deal with Lyndsey ,who made her herself available through e-mail at all times during the booking process, and her agent in Ceret who greeted us warmly on our arrival. The welcome pack of milk and wine was much appreciated! I would have no hesitation in recommending this property though,as other contributors have remarked,it would not suit people with limited mobility due to the stairs.

“great location, comfortable house and enjoyable visit”

Reviewed 30 Jul 2012

Had a great time here, coinciding with a Catalan festival and with our kids' birthdays (both in same week). The town of Ceret is lovely and well situated for visits to the Mediterranean (try Collioure and Argeles) and the Pyrenees. The house was a great base, right in the middle of the town and its design of one room per floor is an imaginative layout for the small size of the building and gives good levels of privacy between parents and kids!! The house is well equipped, nicely designed and centrally located. Though it is quite hidden in a little alleyway near the main arches/ramparts. Everything is in walking distance and the local free car park is not far away at all. The owner and agent are extremely helpful. And as for the wireless internet connection? excellent facility, but keep away from work email when on holiday!

“A very special house in a very special town”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2012

A fantastic vacation in Ceret!! It's a very nice house in the middle of this old and special town, with galleries and nice restaurants everywhere. In the evenings there is jazz-music in the streets and a big market is arranged every Saturday. The house is origionally from the 13th century but it’s completely (and tastefully) modernised. A very nice housekeeper met us the first day and gave us all necessary information. Everything in the house was neat and clean. Ceret is close to the Pyrenees and we have been driving high up in the mountains as well as visiting the fantastic beaches at Carnet, St. Cyprien, Argeles sur Mer and the very special old town Collioure. We also made a short trip to Spain, but we prefer France. We enjoyed every minute of our vacation in Ceret, and can recommend this place to everyone that likes both walking in the mountains, swimming in the sea and nice and warm evenings with good food and wine at Place des 9 Jets, Place Pablo Picasso and Place de la Republique. I’m sure we someday will return to Ceret! Magnhild & Carl, Norway

“Unique house in superb location”

Reviewed 30 Apr 2012

The location of this house is hard to beat - right in the centre of Ceret, a stone's through away from all facilities, cafes and restaurants yet in a quiet street hidden away behind the ramparts in the old town. Behind the ancient exterier is a house completely modernised and well equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. With four floors and lots of stairs, the house is not suitable for those with mobility problems but for those without the views from the top floor are well worth the climb.
