Description

This charming 1 bed apartment is a short stroll away from the beach and Collioure town. Also on the doorstep is a local mini market and artisan bakery open early each day. Set in well manicured grounds, with 2 swimming pools (please note open from beginning of June to the end of September). The building nestles beneath vine clad hills. The apartment is on the first floor up a short flight of stairs. It has a quiet balcony, well equipped small kitchen and sofa bed in the living room. There is a bathroom including a bath with overhead shower. There is a car space is provided with the apartment. Parking in high season is extremely expensive and difficult to find in Collioure. The flat is a wonderful base for walking and numerous paths are close by. There is excellent wifi provided in the apartment and the smart television gives free access to Netflix (no code needed).

Collioure is known as the "Jewel of the Vermeille" coast is a medieval harbour town whose magical light has attracted artists such as Matisse and Picasso. Today it continues as a thriving artist's community and quaint coastal town with five beaches. Collioure's ancient , winding streets are closed to vehicles allowing for leisurely walks past its sorbet coloured stucco dwellings and tiny shops. There are lots of waterfront cafes just moments from the apartment.

The outdoor market is held each Wednesday and Sunday from 9am to noon and offers a variety of regional foods, crafts, clothing and flowers. Music, festivals and performances (including the Catalan "Sardanne" dance) are performed in season from May through September and Easter week.

Getting around

The great thing about the position of the flat is that car is not necessary and everything is walking distance from the apartment, beach, shops and historic sites in Collioure. There is an excellent 1 euro bus service for trips to the local area, Perpignan or even further afield. The train station is just 15 minutes slow walk in the heat from the flat. Just 15 mins to Perpignan on the train where you can get connections to various locations and even travel to Barcelona. Car trips can be taken into the hills, Perpignan, Carcasonne and Barcelona.

Interaction with guest

There is a local manager who will meet and greet you. She speaks English and French. She will be your contact throughout your stay. I will also be available on the phone to answer any queries but I am based in the UK. Always happy to offer advice over the telephone or on email.

This comfortable apartment is in a very peaceful location and yet within easy walking distance of everything you might need. The sea is a two minute walk away. It is very well equipped, the bed is comfortable and the sunny balcony is a perfect place to sit and enjoy a glass of delicious local wine. The owner, Sarah, is extremely helpful and we look forward to many more visits in the future. Thoroughly recommended!
