Description
Our 4 bedroomed detached cottage, named after one of the local fells, is situated in the village of Ennerdale Bridge. It lies within the Lake District National Park, 1 mile from tranquil Ennerdale Water, with fell views and a pleasing rear outlook over fields to the River Ehen. Bright and airy inside, it is comfortably furnished and well-equipped. The lounge has mixed fuel burning stove and newly fitted bathroom has bath with overhead shower .
We have Sky Sports 1 to 5, Sky Movies , along with Sky Box Sets including Game of Thrones and Others. We also have Wi-Fi.
The village has two good pubs, one 50 m away, and an excellent children's adventure playground. Ennerdale provides low level lakeside and forest walks as well as routes onto the high fells. Loweswater, Crummock Water and Buttermere are within easy reach, as is the sandy beach at St. Bees - 20 mins drive to the coast.

“Good experience”
The property is close to many walking paths and a great one around ennerdale lake. The decoration is standard for an old place. The beds are comfy and there's a great modern room upstairs with a … More

Response from the owner I am glad that you enjoyed the many good walks in and around Ennerdale. We have lots of family groups who enjoy having a holiday together - sleeping as we do up to 11. It is a beautiful area , but guests also enjoy home comforts and SKY TV also. And fast fibre broadband also. The property is modern - built in the 1990s, and we redecorate the property annually. And re-paint the stairs twice a year.

“Stay at your own risk!!!”
We entered the house with high expectations as photos in the listing looked amazing. However, as we entered the house we were gobsmacked to see the state of house. Of course it is very old property, … More

Response from the owner The group who stayed the week after this guest said they loved the property and found it clean, and enjoyed their stay !! But they had come through a different website! Nagaraj Jaisim family stayed happily at my property but I was distressed to find things were damaged. He stayed on 29 August till 2nd September. He did not complain about my his stay while there, nor in the week after he stayed .,. But when I raised the issue of damages to cover what he had damaged, he threatened with a bad review, which he left on 14 September - over 2 weeks after he had left - when I said I wanted to retain some of his deposit. I have been letting the property successfully for over 15 years, and never come across such a person/group. None of this review is true. I can send any group wanting to stay a long list of a dozen positive comments from all the other groups who booked independently and via other sites in 2017

Response from the owner The drive can accommodate one large car easily, or two small cars if they are parked close. This is no problem as there is ample safe and easy parking just up the road 20 metres away. Plenty of space there for additional vehicles.

Response from the owner Thanks for the comments. We did respond and get an additional toaster for large groups. Yes, we did put up additional fencing at the back where the neighbouring sheep had eaten some of the hedge. We do have stair gates, and did install window restrictors. Plus we did make sure that the side gate fastened more easily. We do have a lot of guests with young children now, and do also have travel cots and a high chair. Plus seats in the kitchen if it is easier to feed young children there. We provide games and board games in the lounge also.

Response from the owner When we heard the BBQ wasn't working properly we replaced it. The double glazing had been replaced prior to this guest staying. We immediately put restrictors on the windows - thanks for the feedback. We do very much value all feedback to help improve things for future guests.. The bikes are not for use by guests. It was not possible to keep the bikes maintained, not to be checked and mended after each group stay. So I am sorry the bikes are not for use now.
