Charm and authenticity in Fès medina

If you are looking for a lovely authentic place,this traditional moroccan house is for you.Well located,set in the heart of the ancient and busy medina but very quite and peaceful inside. The owner's wife is an artist and you can feel it at first sight,the house is tastefully decorated mixing traditional moroccan design with modern art and furniture.The bedrooms are large,a special mention for the bathrooms really special with elegant coloured tadlakt and zellige;the patio is bright with its open roof. Myriam, the cook prepares you splendid breakfasts (moroccan pancakes, all sorts of bread, jams, fresh fruits juices...) We spent a lovely week in Fès and I will recommend this place to all lovers of authenticity ; at Dar 7 Louyat you do feel like you are an other world away. … see more

A World away

From our first enquirey about this property the service provided was excellent; prompt, friendly and always very helpful. By arrangement with the owner, we were met on arrival at Fes airport and taken to an area in the the Medina close to the house where amina and Rachid, caretakers of Dar Daheb, were waiting to greet us. We set off, following them through century old passageways, feeling we were entering a different time. On arriving at the house, Racheed opened the heavy metal door revealing an interior that was light filled, visually delightful and greatly in contrast to the world outside. We loved our stay at Dar Daheb. It was a wonderful experience for both ourselves and our adult son - always a pleasure. We were well looked after by amina and enjoyed several of her delicious, home cooked evening meals. Amazingly she managed to accommodate both my food intolerances and my son's vegetarianism, which was pretty impressive. We enjoyed the adventure of exploring Fes on our own, shopping in the local market, day trips to Meknes, Volubilus and Sefrou. The views from the roof terrace were amazing and always different in the changing light. The steep stairs may be a problem for some, though as a mature couple we did not find it so. … see more
