Description from owner

Description

Set in 9 acres of tranquil garden and fields, the gite at Les Chambons (Le Petit Chambon) is a beautiful, ground floor, large (100 sq metre), stone gite in a courtyard setting with 8 x 4 metre swimming pool (sole use).

When renovated the gite was designed with disabled guests in mind and all rooms are wheelchair friendly including the bathroom facilities - please contact us for more details.

Situated between the small sleepy village of Gabillou and the hamlet of Pauliac in the peaceful countryside of the Perigord Noir, Le Petit Chambon provides an ideal base from which to visit the many attractions of the Dordogne - Montignac, canoeing on the Vezere, Perigueux the capital of the Dordogne, Sarlat, the Lascaux caves and lots more.

The gite has been fully renovated and is tiled throughout with great views onto the courtyard. The lounge is spacious with a large wood burner and fully equipped "cuisine americane". If you fancy trying a few new recipes whilst you are here we are happy to provide additional equipment, herbs and spices, or if you just want to relax and eat out you can visit one of local restaurants which are a short drive away .

The bedroom is light and airy with a double bed, plenty of cupboard space and view onto the courtyard and gardens.

The gite has a spacious "wet room" style shower and wc, plus a separate wc and basin. There is also a laundry room with washing machine.

Bed-linen and towels are all provided and changed weekly including pool towels (we don't want you to have to add extra luggage just to pack towels!). Relax around the pool, read a book sitting at the pretty blue table and chairs in the courtyard or take a deckchair and find a shady spot in the garden.

There is ample private parking in the courtyard and in an open barn next to the gite.

Further details

- Fuel is charged at cost - wood for the fire and electricity for the portable radiators. A breakages cash deposit of 250 euros or £200 is required on arrival and will be returned after check out minus any breakage deductions. Saturday is arrival day and you can check in at c 5pm.10 am is check out time

Further details indoors

The gite is comfortable, very well equipped and all on one level. Its large rooms make is a great place to stay or so all our guests have said. Double doors open out onto the courtyard from the bedroom flooding it with light. The seperate laundry room makes this property highly practical. Tiled throughout the gite is cool in summer even when its really hot outside. If you are at Le Petit Chambon during the colder months then there is a big wood burning fire for you to cosy up to.

We also provide TV (English Channels), Books, DVD's and board games for your entertainment should the weather be inclement.

Further details outdoors

Le Petit Chambon has a summer kitchen and several tables and chairs spread around the garden - so there is plenty of choice when eating outside. In addtion to the 8 x 4 metre swimming pool, there are plenty of spaces to read, drink a glass of wine or just chill.

Response from the owner Thanks Angela for your kind words. We always say to our guests, treat the gite (and the gardens, pool etc) as if it were your own home. We also try to make sure there is everything you might need in a house, i.e. a coffee maker, plenty of pans/dishes etc , pool towels or even toilet rolls, (especially if you are not sure what to bring!) - Anyway thank-you again. You are always welcome to come back again.
