Description from owner
Description
La Braudière was built in the 19th century, to operate the barrier over the railway line. Nowadays, the railway is just a distant memory, leaving a legacy of miles of leafy, tree lined paths, meandering through woods and open countryside.
This sturdy stone house, with its sky blue shutters, thick stone walls and buttery yellow exterior, has been thoughtfully renovated, with lots of original features – a successful blend of original character and modern comfort. It is simply and tastefully furnished, and the overall effect is bright, light and fresh.
NOTE THAT THERE IS CURRENTLY NO WI-FI AT THE PROPERTY
Set on its own, the house is surrounded by fields, tracks, rivers and woodlands, perfect for exploring by foot or bike (bring your bikes, if you can). You're not too far from civilisation, however, as only 2 kms away is the village of La Trimouille, where you will find well stocked grocery shop, cafes, pharmacy and cinema.
Located in the department of the Vienne, with its peaceful countryside, ancient castles and medieval towns and villages, La Braudière provides a brilliant base for a great holiday. Enjoy the local amenities. Settle into the slower pace of French life with a leisurely amble through the lanes, rich with wildlife. Explore the many tourist attractions of the area. Or simply sit in the garden, with a glass of wine, enjoying the spectacular night skies. Whatever you enjoy, there is something for everyone.
Accomodation.
Downstairs there is an airy and light filled living room. There is a modern, well equipped, fitted kitchen with seating for 4 people. The bath/shower room is also light filled and spacious.
Upstairs, there are two bedrooms. The master bedroom is roomy and comfortable with an antique French bed, wardrobe and wash basin, and the second bedroom has twin beds and chest of drawers.
Outdoors.
The garden is enclosed – at the front of the house, there is a pretty, gravelled front garden with table, chairs and private parking. At the back of the house, there is a lawned area, a further table and chairs, and steps leading up to a large grassy field – perfect for outdoor games and football.

“Charming property in lovely secluded spot yet close to the village.”
This beautiful house has been lovingly restored by the owners from the "railway mans" accommodation to a charming holiday home. Furnishings are to a very high standard and represent the very best in French rural chic. The house is located adjacent to the old rail track bed where the crossing supervisor would ensure safe passage for trains and road users. The railway and line has long gone, but the track bed remains, providing wonderful walks to the nearby village of La Trimouille in one direction and the open countryside on the other, La Trimouille has lots to do for visitors including fishing and canoeing on La Benaize river. The region provides fabulous walking and cycling .
