Description
Minoan Villa has two bedrooms, one double and one twin. There are two bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen and a spacious living room with air-conditioning. The property has a maintained private pool and terrace with views over the valley and bay. It has modern plumbing (so no paper in bins) There is easy parking. There is often a gentle breeze which will keep you comfortable even on the hottest days. Each bedroom is equipped with a DVD player and a Satellite TV and DVD in the Living area. A travel cot is available.
Minoan Villa is set in the small restored Minoan Settlement of Monastiraki on the side of the Thriptis Mountains that line the Lasithi Plane. The villa is just at the base of Ha Canyon and has views over the Bay of Agios Nikolaos. It is away from main centres and offers a peaceful holiday but it is only a five minute drive to the north coast Pachia Ammos and a 15 minute drive to Lerapetra and the South coast.
Monastiraki is a very special place not least because it has two wonderful Tavernas. One with traditional Cretean food and the other modern Cretean cuisine and music. Both are within a few minutes walk.
It is a great base for exploring the Eastern Crete. It is set in Olive groves on three sides with the village and the mountain behind. It's a short drive to the Archaeological site at Gornia
A car is desirable although busses and taxis are practical. Food shopping at Pachia Ammos with a choice of supermarkets in the bustling seaside town of Lerapetra.
Accessibility
The villa is single storey and access is reasonable for wheelchair users with just single steps onto the property and into the house. The shower rooms are on the level with a low step into the shower

“Underbar sensommarvecka”
Huset är vackert beläget vid en liten bergsby en knapp mil från havet. I byn finns några mycket trevliga tavernor med lokal karaktär. Vi vandrade både upp i bergen och ner i dalgången. Huset var välutrustat och efter en dags vandring var det skönt att hoppa i poolen. Huset är bra beläget för fina utflykter till både nord- och sydkusten. Vi tyckte detta var en av våra bästa semesterveckor någonsin!

“It's too good to miss!”
We have been holidaying at this delightful villa for very many years - 8 years ago we got married in Crete and spent our honeymoon at the villa. Yiannis at the nearby tavern did us proud with a magnificent wedding breakfast for 30 people and we have eaten his wonderful meals many time since. Mark and Nikki took over the villa a couple of years ago and the difference they made is amazing - a wood burning stove and an electric blanket are a godsend for people like us who see Crete as a wonderful place to go at Christmas. The location and the views remain unchanged and unsurpassed but Mark and Nikki, aided by the splendid (Greek) Niki who keeps every room beautifully clean and the gardener who manages the charming garden, have transformed the villa inside and out from the slightly tired appearance of yesteryear. One can't help but love it!!

“A stay in the Sun”
Beautiful villa in an amazing location. We were welcomed with fresh flowers and some local olive oil from Nikki the housekeeper who also came every day to clean the pool. The villa was spotlessly clean and is very well equipped. It is ideally situated to visit all the places of interest in Eastern Crete but is also a haven to retreat to after a day of exploring. There are two extremely good local tavernas which are just two minutes walk away! We would highly recommend Minoan Villa, we had the most relaxing time and also one of the most interesting of holidays. Many thanks to Mark and Niki.
