Description

Coeur de Lion is located in the heart of the Perigord Noir , famous for its mediaeval castles, wide rivers and rolling, tree covered hills. The house faces south and is orientated around the patios and swimming pool. It is constructed in traditional style with a pigeonnaire tower and a large open fire place. The house is set back from a quiet road that leads through a wooded valley to the Dordogne river, which is within walking distance. Bathing and canoeing are within a few minutes drive,as is the delightful town of Le Bugue, where local markets and street cafes combine with a beautiful river setting.

The bedrooms are divided up into three separate areas, each with its own bathroom, providing flexibilty and privacy. The ground floor has a self contained apartment with its own private access to the wooded garden at the rear of the house.

There are two kitchens. On the ground floor there is a kitchen and laundry facilities, leading onto a terrace with views over the valley.

Main kitchen is on the middle floor, with access to a second dining terrace with south/south west views over the valley.

A feature of the house is the various terraces and patios, each with views over the pool towards the wooded hills in the distance. Outside dining can take place at the pool level BBQ or on the first floor breakfast patio overlooking the pool. Patio tables, chairs and parasols are provided for both.

The swimming pool has a low chlorine cleaning system and is equipped with a child alarm.

To the rear of the house there is a small wood leading to meadows, while on the eastern side there is flat gravel area providing ample car parking and an area for playing boules.

“Lovely Gite in an amzing location, great host.”

Stayed at Coeur de Lion for 2 weeks with our two dogs and had an amazing time. The Gite very well equipped and any queries Amanda responded very quickly and was extremely helpful. The pool and gardens are regularly maintained and a must to cool down in the hot summer. Loads of outdoor seating so a spot in the shade can always be found. The grounds are well fenced and private, it really feels you are in a piece of paradise, with great opportunities to see the stars and the wide range of nature passing by. The location is perfect for visiting the many Chateaus and is only 10 mins drive to Le Bugue, a lovey town with supermarkets, Patisseries and restaurants. Nearby Limeuil (7 mins drive) is a must to enjoy the lovely atmosphere and restaurants there. Would highly recommend a stay here. Thanks Amanda for sharing your property with us.

“Stunning House in a great location”

We are a family of 4 with 8 and 10 year old daughters. No negatives and a great holiday for all. Remote quiet location with all essentials no more than a 15 minute drive away. Car is a must. Highly recommended with all the benefits of a beautiful older character property but with modern appliances, bathrooms, showers, kitchen, wifi, .etc. Swimming pool, deck and external lighting stunning. Hope to return next year. Lots of good advice for the markets and night markets and local things to do.

“Great house, really enjoyable stay”

Fantastic house, well kept and in a great location. Nice and secluded but there are plenty of things to do and see in the local area, kayaking, river beaches, walks and bike rides, markets. Warm welcome and plenty of information provided about the local area. Highly recommend renting bikes.

“Had an amazing week”

We stayed here along with another 4 friends for my best friends 50th birthday and what an amazing week we had........ The house was very beautiful, very well equipped and very well looked after.the pool and garden area were very well maintained and there was plenty of garden furniture for our use. The house is in a very quiet but beatiful area so a car would be recommended. We drove out to several of the surrounding villages which again were quiet but very beautiful and inviting. Overall we would all recommend Pegauret 100% we had an amazing week !
