Built in the grounds of an old Manor House and featuring spacious open-plan living, this relaxing 'home by the sea' is comfortable and versatile accommodation. It comprises:

“Bad service from host and very dirty house.Avoid!!!”
Arrived at 78 Atlantic reach on Saturday 30th July. First impressions were the place hadn't been cleaned.Downstairs bathroom was smelly and dirty and we went straight out to buy bleach and disinfectant! Upstairs bedroom had someone else's hair in the bin which had been pulled from a hairbrush from the look at it.There was also hair in the shower. We started to make up our beds with very low quality bedding and duvets etc but then went to put the bedding onto the duvet for the soda bed and there was none.I messaged the owner but she was very unhelpful and said there was enough bedding for 8 even though she had my message with all our ages, so unless she couldn't add up it was quite clearly stated.She blatantly couldn't be bothered so we had to buy pillows, pillow cases, a sheet and a double duvet set! .The downstairs bedroom has a small double bed which my elderly parents literally couldn't move around in as it was so small! When the sofa bed was pulled out ready for bedtime we could see that the one side was bent and buckled which meant the bed was wonky! The door wouldn't lock properly and I was told this and basically told not to use the door and it would be fixed when we left! Tgere was a terrible smell of damp under the stairs where the spare pillows were, they were stinking! The settee was stained and nothing felt clean.It was stated that a 6 hour deep clean is done, but there was absolutely no evidence of this at all.There was a chipped glass in the cupboard, we washed the saucepans as they had food residue on them.The cooker was stinking inside and out and the baking tray was gross! After the response I had from the oner quite honestly we just decided to grin and bear it as we were on holiday after all and she obviously wasn't going to care about any complaints. I have read one if the negative reviews and she literally has an answer for everything!! So after hoovering the property on the morning of out departure, we akse detoxed all the tables, sinks etc we left.Today( 8th August) I received an email stating that our dog mounted everywhere and I hadn't booked her onto the holiday and that I would have to pay a £75 charge as the house was apparently left filthy according the the owner I told her that I literally had no idea that I had to pay for the dog as I just filled in what I was sent and paid the whole cost of almost £1600 and then sent a list of all of us who were going(10 names and ages were sent) I wasn't asked if I was bringing a dog, I just assumed as it said pet friendly that was all fine. My message went on to say that the cleaners commented that we could have at least hoovered before we left. I could say the same about them cleaning before we arrived.The message even stated that we left the house in such a state that they had to bring in extra staff!! That just made me chuckle and you would think we'd brought the abominable snowman with us the way the owner went on.She us blatantly just a business woman who doesn't give a hookt about customer service or satisfaction, she just wants to make money without providing a decent service. We have stayed in many properties at Atlantic reach and this by far was the worse. She has the cheek to call it a contemporary luxury cottage.witu a private garden.There is nothing luxurious, contemporary or is it even a cottage??.It also states it's newly refurbished and decorated, I was told that the settee was new this year but its clearly on the pics from 2018.If you have small children or dogs or are expecting a i suggest you look nice clean luxury holiday house then I recommend you look elsewhere. We made the most of beautiful Cornwall but just a shame as the house has so much potential if only the owner cared more.Will definitely be back to Atlantic Reach, just not number 78! T

“Wonderful holiday”
Fantastic house, fitted 9 of us in easily. Great location just a 10minute drive to Newquay. Loved that there was tea and coffee and biscuits. Really comfortable beds. Would highly recommend this house for your holiday!!

“Absolute rip off!!”
This place is in a great location but is dreadful throughout! We were welcomed by a vile damp smell with a stained carpet and a dishwasher that didn’t work. The beds were tiny and uncomfortable and the “spare” duvet (that was required) was stained, it stank and didn’t even have a cover for it. I had to use this duvet for my three year old daughter! The check in time is late and check out time is early due to place having to be “cleaned properly “ although I didn’t see any evidence of this! This is a disgusting place at a disgusting price...AVOID!

Response from the owner I'm disappointed by your comments, as you did contact us on the day you arrived regarding a smell, which was immediately sorted by our maintenance team. It seems odd that you didn't contact us about any other aspect of the house and waited until you had had your damage deposit refunded, before leaving this review. This was after you broke the dishwasher and fused the system by tampering with the electrics, despite being cleared asked in your 'welcome email' to contact us with any issues and not change tamper with anything yourself. We've had many guests stay with us in 2018 and before and no one has had any issues with the bed linens and duvets. The guests before you stayed for a week, checked out the day before your arrival, and loved the house. Again, you failed to contact us during your stay with any queries or photographs of the problems you allege to have had.
