“OK cottage, but not fabulous.”

Reviewed 5 Nov 2013

Functional cottage for exploring Oban. Kitchen was decent, and living room was OK. The bedrooms and bathrooms were quite dirty, and in general it needed some maintenance and a good scrub. However, we were there at the end of the tourist season, so could be better earlier in the season. The restaurant was great, we had a really nice evening there. The overall setting was quite pretty, and it could be great if it was cleaned up a bit.

Response from the manager Hi Carol - sorry you had some issues with the wear and tear in the lodge after a busy holiday season. We are only 3 star and don't pretend to be 'fabulous' - we aim to offer a good value for money, comfortable and homely base for a family holiday in Oban. We do all our maintenance in the winter ready for next Spring, but with 22 properties it takes a while to get around them all. I am glad you enjoyed your meal in the Barn Bar - it is a great facility for Cologin residents.

“Lovely position and food but it lacks in comfort and it is not adviseable for asthmatics”

Response from the manager I am so sorry you did not enjoy your lodge. However, I must point out that we keep 'pet free' lodges available all year for asthmatics and those suffering from allergies and it is shame that you did not request one on booking. However, the carpets in the lodge that you were in are just 2 seasons old and are pure wool so should last many more years! Thank you for your feedback regarding the rusty soap holder - this has now been replaced and I do hope it did not spoil your holiday.

“A great place to stay”

Reviewed 25 Jun 2012

About 12 chalets on a mature site, all well spaced so not on top of each other, and all with a parking space adjacent. Our's appeared to have been recently refurbished to a high standard and was very comfortable for a fortnight stay. The Barn Restaurant serves a wide choice of really good food (can recommend the Mussels!) and is a popular, friendly place - the live music from local muscians on Sunday PM's is particularly good. Just 3miles from centre of Oban (free parking near Tesco's) which has excellent ferry services to nearby islands - we can recommend the day trip to Iona, book-able at the terminal. A good centre for touring around, but be prepared to drive long distances because Scotland is a big place. The local scenery is spendid and the site itself nestles in its own pretty little glen. All in all, a very good place to stay.
