La Fontaine in Olette, offers you the chance to explore the beautiful area of the Pyrenees Orientales, the south west corner of France. Based in Olette, we will share with you our love of the scenic region and our passion for good food and wine.
Chambres d'Hôte la Fontaine is ideally situated between the sea and the mountains and is the perfect base for walkers, history lovers and interested in Catalan traditions.
La Fontaine offers 5 comfortable en-suite rooms (14 guests) overlooking the village square. The village Olette is situated on the N116, 50 kilometres west of Perpignan on the route to Andorra and Spain. There is a comfortable guest lounge / dining room and several terraces to relax in after enjoying a day in the mountains.
The Little Yellow Train stops in the village and the thermal baths of St Thomas les Bains are 15 minutes away. Set in the Catalan Nature Reserve the area is fantastic for walkers and nature lovers who can enjoy the 11 parks. History lovers can visit the 2 Vauban World Heritage forts at Villefranche de Conflent and Mont Louis as well as 4 Romanesque abbeys. % ski resorts including Font Romeu and Les Angles are 40 minutes away as well as dramatic walks at Les Gorges de Caranca. Picturesque villages are dotted amongst the valley and mountains and 5 are labelled Most Beautiful Villages of France. Spain is 40 minutes away and Andorra 80. So much to do and see in the average 300 days of sunshine!
As well as dramatic scenery, the area is also home to wonderful cuisine and food products. Sample the rustic Catalan menus or buy wonderful fruit and salads in the many markets. Compare the difference between Spanish markets sampling tapas in Prades or Puigcerda.
