Description
La Metairie is situated in the beautiful yet relatively undiscovered Deux Sevres.This 16th century farmhouse is situated on the edge of a quiet hamlet, in its own grounds, which include a large private swimming pool, a fire pit and a secure pond with free-range ducks and chickens. Table Tennis, Volleyball, babyfoot and Wifi, also available.
The property has been tastefully renovated to provide spacious and comfortable accommodation, whilst retaining original beams and stone walls. Ideal for a complete "break from it all", or as a base for touring the many delights of this region. Many activities nearby, including golf, fishing, horse-riding, karting and canoeing. Within easy reach of Poitiers and Futuroscope, the Marais Poitevin (Green Venice), the Puy du Fou, the Loire Valley, La Rochelle and the Atlantic Coast, the beautiful Ile de Re and other islands, Cognac and much, much more.

L'Etable - sleeps 4/6
Spacious, comfortable accommodation on 2 floors. The ground floor comprises of an open-plan, double-glazed living area with lounge area with wood burning fire, TV and DVD. 3 seater sofa and 2 large, relaxing chairs Fitted kitchen with gas hob, electric mini-oven, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. Dining area with dining table that can easily seat 6. On the first floor there are 2 bedrooms: 1 double, with 2 fitted wardrobes and bedside cabinets. 1 twin, with wardrobe which has a good sized hanging area and shelves. There are also 2 bedside cabinets and a sofa bed that sleeps 2. We do recommend that this sofa bed is best suited for children, should you require extra sleeping accommodation for adults please contact us. Bathroom/WC with half-bath with integral seat and over bath shower. BBQ and garden furniture is provided.
This gite can be interlocked with our smaller unit to provide one larger unit sleeping 6-8

All the grounds are accessible and the garden furniture can be moved to wherever you would like it.
The large pool (30ft x 15ft) is shared by both gites.
There is a decked terrace area alongside the pool, equipped with sun loungers, where you can relax, offering open views across the valley. There is also a fire pit, table tennis table, volleyball, babyfoot and outdoor Jenga

“lovely peaceful setting, great gites and friendly owners”
Anita and Mark were helpful throughout the booking process and welcoming on arrival - the little extras (wine/eggs) were lovely after our long drive! We rented both gites for us, our children and grandparents and both were comfortable, spacious and cool on the hot days and nights! The immediate surroundings were lovely - frogs lullaby at night! Both gites have washing machines and the larger one has a dishwasher which was an unexpected luxury. Both gites had tv with British channels which was useful after a busy day. The pool was fantastic as was all the outdoor space which we had full use of - table tennis, badminton, boules - BBQ and outdoor seating area. Lots to see and do for all ages - Futuroscope is the big attraction if you are into theme parks but Parthenay, Poitier, Saumur, Thour, La Rochelle and Isle de Re are all within easy drives and Parthenay has three fab supermarkets and lovely bistro cafes by the town square. We have stayed in lots of areas of France and this area is one to return to, very verdant (sunflowers in abundance) but climate is definitely as good as you would get further south. Mark and Anita were perfect hosts, they welcomed us, let us know where they were if needed and then let us get on and enjoy the gites/grounds and we never felt that their being the 'owners on site' was an issue at all, in fact quite the opposite they really gave us the freedom of their lovely property without intrusion. We had exclusive use of the pool too which was very much appreciated. Overall a great holiday and with nothing negative to say about the experience at all - get booked up quick!!

“A comfortable gite in an idyllic rural setting”
The gite is in a very rural location, but only 8 miles from Parthenay. Anita and Mark are excellent owners, always ready with advice on interesting places to go in the area. We travelled by motorbike, so it was very helpful to us that Anita and Mark bought some groceries in advance for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Particularly enjoyed visiting St Martin de Re and Le Marais de Poitevin. We are hoping to visit again in 2014.

“loved every minute of our two week stay”
we walkedmiles along safe country roads. We had bril company at the giet. We toured the area with hired car with little difficulty. It had its own fab pool. read 3 great books in the sun. would highly recomend. well done |Mark and anita.

“Our 2nd visit, Blissful peace and quiet, great place forkids to play safely”
We stayed at Mark and Anita's place last year and enjoyed it so much that we came back this year with another family. Weather was great. The pool and massive garden/grounds keep the kids busy. The house is well equipped with all the usual plus satellite and wifi. Our hosts are very nice, helpful and discreet. We hardly noticed they were there. We went away to get away from it all and succeeded.

“It was perfect !”
It was really nice, the house is confortable and the swimming pool so great but the best is Mr and Mrs Wilson wich are here everytime we need. In few words, it was great, thanks a lot. Ps : Sorry for my poor english, i'm just a french guy :)

“Relaxing and fun holiday with great owners”
We really enjoyed our holiday at La Metairie. It was very secure for our children who had a fabulous time and loved the ducks, chicks, cats and the very friendly dog. The pool as well as the table tennis and badminton facilities were great to keep everybody entertained. Mark and Anita couldn't have been more helpful and gave us plenty of advice on where to go and what to do. The gite was great and contained everything we needed. Shopping in Parthenay was also convenient. A great family holiday!
