Often-times in the summer Chantel and Serge, who sometimes look after the property and live next door will provide you with seasonal fruit and vegetables from their expansive garden.

The kitchen area has a first aid kit, fire blanket and the apartment is fitted with both smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

The room has two couches one of which can be converted into a double bed. The room is filled with light and catches the sun for most of the day. All windows are curtained and shuttered which allows for privacy and together with really thick walls allows you to keep the house cool in the heat of the summer. “Feels Like Our Second Home”

Reviewed 10 Mar 2013

This is the second year in succession that we have stayed for an extended period at The Ria Sirach Apartments, staying for at least 6 weeks each time. We have stayed in both of the upstairs apartments, last year in the 2 bedroomed Ria Apartment and this year in the one bedroomed Sirach Apartment. This review is equally applicable to both apartments. As the title states, this really does feel like our second home! The apartments have been tastefully restored in a fantastic old building with enormous history, being a former engineer's residence and part of the Ria Sirach Hydroelectric. As with all old buildings maintenance is on-going, but if anything goes wrong in the apartment, Patrick, the property owner, is always prompt and ready to repair anything - proved by our toilet cistern. The apartments are well furnished, comfortable and extremely well equipped. The kitchen provides plenty of space, storage and cooking facilities to accomodate us for a 6 week stay. A large flat screen TV in the lounge has both UK satelite channels and French TV and there are plenty of DVD's/videos available from the downstairs games room. We spent many an evening curled up on the sofa in front of the TV with the log burner lit - not something we ever get the opportunity to do at home. From the bedroom(s), at the back of the building furthest from the road, the views across the village and down the valley are stunning. With nothing but the sound of the river running by below, a comfortable, peaceful night's sleep is almost guaranteed. As I have stated we have stayed here in the winter enjoying local walking and skiing and returning at the end of the day to light the log burner, which provides enough heat to warm the entire apartment, including the bathroom and bedrooms. There are also electric heaters if you need them. Since our first stay double glazing has been installed adding to the warmth but also virtually excluding any road noise. Finally, a special mention for Patrick and his wife, Catherine, genuine hosts. From first booking to arriving, staying and eventually departing, nothing is too much trouble, always with time for a chat, to compare new places to visit or share a cup of tea sitting out in the sunshine. We hope to return next winter.

“Nice place, but very noisy.”

Reviewed 1 Oct 2012

The apartment was very clean, modern and well-maintained. But a main highway runs past the front of the house - about 10 meters away from the front windows - and the traffic noise is non-stop and really annoying. As it was hot, I had to have the windows open in the living room and the kitchen and not only was there constant noise, the whole place stunk of diesel fumes. The bedroom and terrace were on the other side and were relatively peaceful. I would say only rent this place if you are not adverse to lots of road traffic.

Response from the owner Thank you Denise for your feedback - As I am sure you are aware we try and do everything possible to make the apartments as comfortable as possible. For this reason we have decided to add secondary glazing to the front windows to minimize any road noise. We are also in the process of getting quotes for air conditioning for the apartment. This should be fitted for next summer. Once again thank you for your stay and I hope you will consider us again in the future.

“A true gem”

Reviewed 5 Jul 2012

We loved our stay in Ria-Sirach, Patrick had great local tips and was fun for a chat and drink. The apartment was really comfortable, clean, has history and a nice chillaxed vibe. I just couldn't get enough of the view from the private balcony with the view of Ria, the mountains and the sounds of the cool waters of the Têt flowing right below you. Definitely coming here again!

“Pyreneean Idyll”

Reviewed 21 Aug 2011

Our stay in this Pyreneean idyll was a delightful experience. The apartment is very comfortable, spacious and well equipped. We found the owner friendly, very sociable and helpful. The property is situated adjacent to a main route and public transport operates frequently during the day. However in the evening the immediate area does not have a good choice of amenities/bars/restaurants, but around 3km in either direction at Villefranche or Prades there are many facilities. We would highly recommend this apartment to anyone wishing to visit the area.

“Stunning location and interior”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2011

Certainly peaceful and with lots of places to visit within a day. The flat is really lovely with a wonderful balcony / terrace overlooking the river and mountain. Spent many peaceful hours there. We also looked into the other, bigger flats and they were absoluteley beautiful. Full marks to Patrick on his renovation. The view from the balcony and bedroom windows of the mountain village of Ria was stunning and Eus was also visible in the background. Both worth a walk around. Don't let the adjacent road put you off, not even aware of it and with a sufficient gap from the driveway that there was very little traffic noise. Do visit the caves 10 mins away, a very overwhelming experience. Hope to return in the future.
