Brookby Ridge Cottage is a lovingly restored cottage, perfect as a holiday home, nestled amongst our peaceful, hilltop olive grove in Marlborough, NZ.
You couldn't be closer to the vineyards of Marlborough. Brookby Ridge Cottage sits alongside a working vineyard, with sweeping views of the vines and vistas of Blenheim, the Wairau Valley and across the Cook Strait to the North Island beyond - all there for you to take in from your private veranda. Harrier Hawks swoop and soar majestically across the valley below, whilst California Quail and pheasant wander quietly through the surrounding trees.
The open-plan living space is complete with a fully-equipped kitchen, large comfy couches and a wood-burning fire to snuggle up to on cooler evenings. With one king-size bedroom, this is perfect for one couple as a romantic retreat, where the peace and tranquillity of the countryside can be enjoyed uninterrupted.
Blenheim was voted the sunniest place in NZ in 2015, and this region is world-famous for its many award winning Sauvignon Blancs, with renowned labels like Cloudy Bay, Villa Maria and St Clair - all a short drive from the cottage. Each tastes equally delicious from Brookby Ridge Cottage's deck at sunset! For wine-lovers, there is the additional bonus of the highly-acclaimed Marlborough Wine & Food Festival - New Zealand's leading premier wine festival - held every February in the valley below the cottage at the Brancott Festival Site. This iconic event showcases the very best of Marlborough in one stunning vineyard location.
Take a Greenshell Mussel Cruise and be enchanted by the beauty of the Marlborough Sounds, which contain 20% of New Zealand's coastline. The very knowledgeable crew will fill you with information about this area, whilst treating you to a freshly-cooked appetiser of mussels, food-matched with a delicious glass of chilled Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.
Being vineyard owners ourselves, we'd be delighted to answer any questions you may have about the region. We would also be more than happy to help plan day trips, as well as giving advice & tips on places to visit throughout the rest of the country. It's bigger than it looks!
Our very friendly small black Lab would undoubtedly accompany you if you wanted to have a wander through the vines as well.
With a huge increase in tourism in NZ last summer, accommodation will be at a premium in the coming months. Book early to avoid disappointment.
