Our Facilities. At Ta Mill, you can hire the site Hot Tub or Swim Spa. The Vita Hot Tub is situated in a private setting, unusually surrounded by the original stone walling of the waterwheel pit. Climb down into the inviting Hot Tub which is sat on a steel grid above the fantastic vertical walls where a working waterwheel once belonged. Be amazed at the beautiful example of local craftmenship from ages past which is lit up below you or look above at the changing scenes as clouds drift by or marvel at the sky at night- see website for terms and conditions.Nature TrailIndulge your imagination as you absorb the natural beauty and tranquil setting whilst you wander along the picturesque nature walk . Follow the wending stream where all you are likely to hear are kestrels and skylarks, as they soar above. Sit and watch the wildlife ponds which are teeming with life as you relax and recharge in this haven of peace.Start your journey in the orchard, which has been recently replanted with a collection of traditional cornish apple trees. Our peaceful nature trail is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. A babbling brook meanders through the grounds, past the wildlife pond and continues along the picturesque nature trail, which is a DEFRA assigned access, recognised for its archaeological interest and unique setting. This nature trail leads you through a beautiful valley of dramatic stone outcrops and blossoming gorse. In the Spring, the bright yellow gorse and white blossom of the blackthorn contrast with the stunning grey slate rocks. Later in early Summer the hillside is adorned with purple foxgloves and you will discover dainty violets hiding in the undergrowth. After nearly half a mile of wending stream you will be delighted at the discovery of another wildlife pond, playing host to a wealth of pondlife, including dragonflies, striking turquoise damselflies and swallows as they dip and dive across the shimmering water. Otters are a regular visitor to this pond, you will find their 'spraint' on nearby rocks.Along your journey, you will find original granite gateposts, traditional Cornish stone hedging and wonderfully contorted trees that provide a home for mosses and lichen that only grow in pure air. Beyond the pond, there are remains of two ancient stone enclosures which are circular features, best viewed from the hillside. It is not known quite what these enclosures were for or when they were built but we welcome suggestions! If you wish to continue your journey, join the nearby footpath which leads to St. Clether Chapel and its ancient Holywell which is considered to be the most beautifully situated of all shrines in Cornwall. On site facilities include:9 hole pitch 'n' putt set in an acre of meadowland Games Room with table tennis, pool table and gym equipment Free video and DVD library Communal lawns and mature gardens Children's outdoor play areaMarriage or Civil ceremonies in three unique locations now available - why not get married at Ta Mill and celebrate your wedding in a truly unique location, surrounded by countryside, not overlooked by anyone and close to the North Cornish coast.

Response from the owner Thank you so much for your kind words. I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay. Ta Mill is truly a secluded hideaway but within easy reach of some fantastic beauty spots that are well worth a visit including Boscastle, Crackington Haven on the North coast or the rugged, unspoilt wonders on Bodmin Moor including Rough Tor. Ta Mill is a haven for nature so I'm not at all surprised you saw an owl, with both barn and tawny owls on site. You don't have to be bird watcher to appreciate the myriad of wildlife that you can spot during your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back to Ta Mill in the near future.

“Truly a secluded hideaway”

Response from the owner Thankyou so much for your kind review. It is true we are looking forward to a faster broadband connection. According to the BT outreach boys we may well have SUPERFAST by Xmas- will keep you posted. We are well situated for visiting many lovely destinations in Cornwall and you can retreat to your cosy cottage with a well deserved Hot Tub massage at the end of your day. The cottages have wood burners and central heating so perfect for romantic winter nights. I'm glad that you appreciated the 'romantic, secluded ambience' of Ta Mill. Hope to see you again one day.

“Amazing”

Reviewed 2 Mar 2014

What a fantastic break away, was a little concerned with the weather with the ongoing winds and floods, we arrived in 70 MPH winds on the Friday night and thought what we have let ourselves in for, especially as it was such a long day we just wanted to get in and to get our heads down. What a difference another day makes wow for the next two days we woke up to birds singing and amazing weather followed by amazing views. The Millers cottage was immaculate and how it was set out was amazing also with a perfect retreat for a couple, especially if you want to go that little bit further like champagne and strawberries. The hospitality was amazing every request was not an problem at all, and best of all was the hot tub  Thanks Helen for a truly amazing time and I can truly understand why people travel from all over the world to stay in your cottages. Hopefully see you again soon.

Response from the owner Yes, I remember when you arrived- certainly a 'rough' night. Close the door on the cottage with the log burner roaring and you can forget the wind and rain outside. Despite the weather, the birds still manage to sing a merry song in the mornings. What a contrast now! Sun shining, lambs prancing around the fields - it really does feel like Spring is in the air.

Response from the owner Thankyou for your review. It's hard to sometimes explain accurately that Ta Mill is surrounded by rolling countryside, peaceful and tranquil, set in its own little valley yet easily accessible and close to many lovely places in Cornwall and Devon. You have "hit the nail on the head" with your comments and we hope that the accommodation exceeds expectation for all our guests. Good luck with your 'next venture'- hope to see you both with your new addition soon.

“Beautifully renovated cottage in a wonderful setting”

Response from the owner Thankyou for your kind comments. The Millers cottage is one of my favourites with its underfloor heating and exposed beams! I'm glad you were able to unwind and switch off for a few days. Mobile phone reception is fine for Vodafone on site but some of the other networks are limited (there is a pay phone). Internet connection (WiFi) is available in or near the reception but not in the cottages. Hopefully, we will get a faster speed soon with 'superfast broadband' being gradually introduced to all areas of Cornwall- we live in hope! Lambing nearly over now, so plenty of 'spring lambs' playing tags in the fields..

Response from the owner Really pleased that you enjoyed your holiday with us. Heidi (our sheep dog) loves to take visitors on walks down the nature trail to one of our wildlife ponds and on to St Clether's Holy Well, if you go a little further! Millers cottage is newly renovated this year with under floor heating so warm slates in the living area and wonderfully cosy upstairs. The bedroom is very spacious with stunning features such as exposed beams and sloping ceilings, yet maintaining a cosy feeling. The woodburner means that visitors can enjoy a romantic fire as winter closes in. We believe Millers cottage is truly a luxurious cottage all year round.
