This beautifully restored 18th Century Charentaise Farmhouse comprises of three spacious and well-appointed cottages \ gites that can comfortably accommodate up to 28 guests...

1/ Le Manoir (sleeping up to 12 guests)

2/ La Grange (sleeping up to10 guests)

3/ L'Ecurie (sleeping up to 6 guests).

Individual, combinations of cottages, or the entire property can be rented out to accommodate up to 28 guests ... perfect for large gatherings of family, friends or work colleagues.

This unique property, which is built on the site of an old Roman encampment, is set in a tranquil but not isolated location, on the edge of a quiet village of just 15 houses.

Les Capucines is surrounded by lush countryside, fields of sunflowers and is a short distance to shops and facilities as well as being only 20 minutes from the nearest sandy beach.

Being so well equipped, you only need bring your clothes and some company!

Les Capucines is so centrally located that there is an enormous variety of activities and places to visit within easy reach...

To the West, the gorgeous Atlantic beaches are right on the doorstep, as well as the historic old seaport of La Rochelle and the glamorous islands of Ile de Re, Oleron and Aix. To the East are the beautiful towns along the Charente River, including the historic old towns of Saintes and Cognac. A short drive to the North, is the Loire Valley with its magnificent Chateaux and to the South, there are the beautiful rolling countryside of the Dordogne as well as the vineyards of Bordeaux.

So whether you go North, South, East or West - and everywhere in between - there is just so much for the whole family to do and see whilst on holiday at Les Capucines!

If you feel more like relaxing, there is a very large terraced swimming pool which is bathed in sunshine from dawn to dusk and surrounded by mature, well laid out gardens. In addition each cottage has its own barbecue (ready to fire up) as well as table and chairs for outdoor eating. Communal dining for up to 28 guests to eat together is also available, with a choice of 'alfresco', under cover or inside.

Facilities include a large under cover games area with table tennis, table football, magnetic darts and a selection of bicycles for local use. There is also a guest store-room with an extensive DVD library, boules, footballs, a cricket set, inflatables plus pump, tennis & badminton racquets as well as lounge cushions and umbrellas for the pool.

Near the pool is a popular kids play area which has a slide, sandpit, picnic table, swings, a paddling pool and ride-on tractor to keep the little ones occupied.

In addition to the large areas of manicured and private gardens there is also a communal 'veggie patch' for guests to help themselves to tomatoes, courgettes, peppers, lettuce, strawberries, blackberries, basil and mint and whatever else is available at the time.

New to Les Capucines is an in-house massage facility (by a fully trained masseuse) which will be available for guests after long drives, bike rides, walks, swims or just because they feel like being pampered!

So whatever you and your family and friends are looking for in a French holiday, Les Capucines can deliver - and so much more!

Getting around

With its fantastic motorways nearby it only takes just over an hour to get to the amazing city of Bordeaux and then onto the nearby vineyards of St Emillon. They will also take you North to the Medieval Town of Tours and the chateaux of the Loire Valley. Alternatively you can take a more leisurely drive through the beautiful countryside of the Charente-Martime and rolling hills of neighbouring Dordogne.

Interaction with guest

The owners are from Sydney, Australia and live on-site in a separate gite with its own entrance. They are there to offer assistance and advice, where needed, on where to eat as well as places to visit and activities in the surrounding area. They also ensure that the property is fully maintained during your stay and your holiday enjoyment is maximised.
