Description
Traditional old farmhouse surrounded by 5 acres of its own land and a conveniently accessible 45 minute drive from Limoges airport. Situated at the top of a south facing valley amid beautiful rolling countryside of fields, woodland and its own private lake. Although rural the house is private but by no means isolated. The house is built of granite with a patio and BBQ area and there is unlimited room for parking. The property sleeps 7 comfortably in 4 bedrooms namely: 2 doubles, one twin and one single, One of the double rooms is at ground floor level and has its own ensuite facility. The main large familly bathroom is situated on the second floor. There is a fully equipped farmhouse kitchen with a dining table seating 7 and a comfortable lounge with log burning stove. For the summer months there is the option of dining al fresco utilising the tiled area adjacent to the kitchen.
For the cycling and fishing enthusiasts, bikes are provided as is fishing tackle and a small boat for use in the private lake.
Located about a 15 minute drive from the picturesque, typically French market town of Rochechouart with its hill top chateau overlooking the town, Rochechouart is a bustling town with all facilities including banks, supermarkets and individual retailers stocking traditional French fare - patisseries, boulangeries and Fromageries, plus a range of quality restaurants and bars.
There is safe swimming with a sandy beach, boating and restaurant facilities at St Mathieu, just 5 miles away and at other locations nearby.
You will be on the very edge of the Dordogne, with the sea at Royan about 2 hours away. For the golfer there are courses at Ecuras, St Junian, Limoges and Cognac. There are many places of interest with a reasonable distance, notably Cognac, Brantome and the unique war memorial that is Oradour Sur Glane. All in all a taste of rural France for those seeking relaxation, tradition and tranquility.
