Description from owner
Description
The local village of Casaprota is a medieval village (600 inhabitants) situated in the heart of the Sabine region, between Via Salaria (the ancient Roman salt road) and the Sabine Hills.
The first traces of the village date back to the Roman period. Its social and economic life is profoundly shaped by two elements: its huge source of water which serve the aqueduct of the city of Rome and olive oil.
The ancient traditions of Sabine, entwined with religion and agriculture, can still be experienced in Casaprota. From early spring, to late autumn, the village is filled with a festive atmosphere, culminating with beautiful fireworks. Don't miss these events if you want to get a feel for the old Italy and enjoy typical local gastronomic specialities.
A horse riding school, a public sports centre “Aria Sport Village” (3 clay tennis courts, mini football pitch, 2 swimming pools, 1 beach volleyball court, 3 ping pong tables) and several nature and archaeological itineraries are just some of the local attractions for visitors.
Sabina Region
Fifty kilometres North-East of Rome, following the eastern bank of the Tiber River and the Sabine Hills, lies the territory of Sabina.
Riding schools, golf courses immersed in the green countryside, along with Mount Terminillo ski resorts and several walking and cycling routes are all available to sports enthusiasts.
The Franciscan sanctuaries; the Farfa Abbey for centuries a witness to the power of the Roman Church; the Romanesque churches of Vescovio and Santa Vittoria; the archaeological sites and ancient Roman town of Trebula Mutuesca and Forum Novum as well as, the national parks and lakes, and the capital city Rieti are also among the many attractions in Sabina.
Rome is a 45 minute drive or 50 minutes train ride with very easy access to the Rome International Airports of Fiumicino and Ciampino.
From the villa, within one hour's drive, you can reach the most important artistic sights of central Italy, such as Rome, Tivoli, Viterbo, Tarquinia, Spoleto, Orvieto and Assisi.
