“Quintessential Provence Experience”
Beautiful cottage in a small Provencal village. Lots of country chic style, with the emphasis on chic. Nice leisurely walk into town for croissants, bread and pastries, a wonderful butcher and very well stocked little grocery. It was wonderful going out sightseeing during the day and then returning to the cottage - large and well equipped - to have drinks and hors d'oeuvres by the pool. Les Baux, St. Remy, Avignon, Arles, Nimes, the Camargue are all nearby. It was a little too cold for swimming when we were there mid October but in warmer weather, the pool would have been a treat. Sophie was terrific and so helpful. When our rental car died, she got on the phone with avis and resolved the whole situation for us: a wrecker came to get the car which had a dead starter and a taxi came to pick us up and take us back to avis for another car. Sophie also recommended going to La Cabro d'Or in Les Baux, one of the best restaurants in France, for their pre-fixe weekday lunch. At 52 euros per person (which includes wine pairing), the three course mid-day dinner is a bargain and so fabulous, it will be in our memories forever. Just exquisite. We can recommend Le Paradou without any reservation. Seven, Sophie's and William's dog, is darling.
“Charming gite in the middle of everything!”
We stayed at the la maison au fond du jardin. August 11-18. This place is in the middle of everything. With only 7 days to discover Provence we needed a central location. The gite was clean, quiet and comfortable. The kitchen & dining room had everything we needed to eat-in. The bedroom & bathroom had plenty of storage space for two. The terrace overlooked the garden, our driveway and a far off neighbor (which we never saw) with only one closed window facing the gite. All other windows look out onto the yard. The yard was mostly fig & almond trees on gravel. My husband used and loved the pool. We had trouble with the wifi. But Sophie offered a solution. The owners Sophie and William are very welcoming and were magnificent hosts. They are there if you need help but don't hover. Their home is behind the gite and not seen from any room or window of the gite. The pictures on their web site are very accurate. The very small town of Paradou has a grocer, boulangerie, butcher, post office and restaurant. The boulangerie had the best breads ever. The butcher had great meats and pre-made lasagna. The grocer had all we needed. We didn't try the restaurant so can't comment. There are larger towns with cafes and shops within 5-10 minutes.
“Great holiday in a great area.”
Just returned from staying with Sophie and William in Paradou. They were hospitable and attentive without being obbtusive. The cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The location was all we'd hoped for being central for arles, Nimes, Avignon and Les alpilles. Paradou and Maussanne, without being too big, had all the ammienities we required. It is impossible to say what we liked least because we iked it all!
“Great time in Provence!”
Very nice and well-equipped apartement. Very good service before and during the stay. There are very good bakery and butchery close to apartement.
“House in La Paradou”
This rental is in a small town outside of Les Baux called Paradou. Cute little town, but everything was closed the whole week we were there. The house is a perfect location to do day trips throughout the region--Arles, Avignon, Gordes, Roussillon, St. Remy, Isle Sur La Sorgue, etc. And there is another small town 5 min away called Maussane which has several restaurants. The house was very nice, clean and convenient, and Sophie was very accommodating. We had internet access and a washing machine and a full kitchen (which we did not use). There was a small patio with table where we had a picnic dinner one evening. The only negative would be that online it looked like the 2 beds in the loft would be more usable. In fact, you have to climb a ladder to get to them (not good for adults, especially if you have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night!) and the beds themselves faced the vaulted ceiling just inches away. It worked out ok for us as the main bed was a decent size (queen, I think) so my daughter and I just both slept in that bed. We sat out by the pool one afternoon but were bothered by wasps-I think they had a nest under the deck, as I saw them keep going under there.
Response from the owner Now the house is rented for a couple, when I saw a mother and her daughter , I proposed them a sofa bed in the living or the loft bed , the daughter was young adult and I though she could enjoy sleeping upstairs. There is enough bed to choose when I am informed, the bedroom has a queen size bed that can be also separate into two single beds. I can prepare the sleepings on request. Here we are ine the country and just began the season , and wasps the same!!we will kill the wasp of course
