Description

We have just finished renovating our Gite - we are a little late to advertise this year so grab yourself bargain! Gite (self contained accommodation) offered for up to 6 / 7 people. Clean, comfortable, friendly surroundings. Guests often tell us our bedrooms are well sized with plenty of space and they have the best nights sleep for a long time ... they usually don't want to go home! Sample the weekly markets, canoeing on the river, the local water park or the fantastic local scenery and attractions, such as the 'Gouffre de Padirac', Le Chemin de Fer du Haute Quercy (steam train rides), the french equivalent to 'Go Ape', Les Jardins du Manoir D'Eyrignac (wonderful gardens that will take you all day to look round), sample a chateau or two or simply head to the Plan d'eau for a day out pehaps. We will be happy to provide details of local attractions. Ideal for couples, families or those simply wishing to relax and unwind.

“Homely, friendly, clean and welcoming”

Reviewed 7 Jul 2015

What a fantastic time we had here, travelling with extended family including brother and teenage nieces we were never short of anything to do. The accommodation was perfect for us, the kitchen was well equipped, the bedrooms were all clean and comfortable and English TV kept teenagers happy in the evenings. Communication between us and the owners was spot on and they were helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble.

“Clean, well maintained house with unobtrusive hosts”

Reviewed 8 Sep 2013

La Nougayrede is a clean, well maintained house in a quiet rural location. The house is adjacent to the host's own house with it's own entrance. During our stay the covered verandah/porch of the owners' house was allocated for our sole use including lounge chairs and picnic table and chairs. Although their windows looked on to the porch, they kept their blinds lowered to maintain some semblance of privacy for all. The four bedrooms were comfortable and the bathroom clean. A second bathroom or at least a separate toilet would be preferable. Just one bathroom for 6 people isn't really enough. The kitchen was large and clean, with sufficient cooking utensils. The garden area is not separately fenced. The outside area is very open and is more of a typical farm-yard set up with large open shed. The reason for mentioning the outdoor area is that I travelled with a 3 year old and a one year old. With small children a secure, fenced garden would be better. Also, a separate fenced area would make the outdoor space feel more 'yours' rather than shared with the owners. Although the owners were very unobtrusive (they walked as far away from the guest house entrance and patio area as they could), sometimes it felt like we were lounging around in somebody else's front garden and thus a bit awkward. The owners were a lovely, English couple who were happy to engage in conversation but were not pushy or overbearing. They happily offered a few supplies after we arrived late on a Sunday (this is rural France and there is absolutely NOTHING open where you can buy bread or milk on a Sunday afternoon - be sure to stock up in a larger village on your way to the accommodation).
