Welcome to "Le gîte du Muscle"
The “Perigord Noir” Enjoy the most beautiful area of France
A Pair of Charming Luxury Dordogne stone cottages for rent. Built in 1795 and fully renovated in 2014 with taste and care.
In the main house there is:
• An air conditioned Double bedroom (Kingsize),
• An en-suite bathroom with shower and WC
• Large Living Room and dining room with cathedral fireplace
• Top spec designer kitchen
• Bathroom with shower and WC for swimming pool
A few meters away in the second house you will find:
• An air conditioned Twin bedroom (2 single beds)
• Separate bathroom with full bath and WC
• Snug/TV room (TV), cathedral fireplace with convertible high quality sofa bed (sleeps 2)
Off the main house there is a south facing full sized terrace with a fully automatic sunshade which takes full advantage of the views over Audrix, its valley and forests.
In the 1 Acre garden there is:
• A heated swimming pool with a paved sunbathing area and furniture.
• A shaded lawn area
• An original full sized stone bread oven (not yet working as we have a bit more work to do to restore the oven floor)

“Lovely week”
The cottages were ideal for our family of five. The children, aged 15, 12 and 9, were very happy in the second cottage, with their own bathroom and the property’s TV. The cottages are beautifully kept and well-equipped with quality appliances. The French housekeeper, who is also a neighbour, is very friendly and brought us courgettes and cucumbers from her garden. There are three lavatories, one bath and two showers (including one with easy access to the outdoors and the pool): luxury for five people. The pool and pool area are well maintained and surrounded on two sides by tall bramble hedges, which were covered in blackberries when we stayed. The view from the kitchen and outdoor eating area is very restful. We spotted the two deer a few early mornings. Be aware no food (salt, pepper, oil etc.) is left in the house. Be prepared with some basics. There was water, wine and juice in the fridge when we got there. The property is particularly well situated for Les Eyzies and its main prehistoric cave sites along the Vezere river. But we managed easily to explore the Dordogne valley and Sarlat. There is no shortage of activities in the area. Our highlight was kayaking 16km from Vitrac down the Dordogne. And the gorgeous stone houses everywhere m. Highly recommended for a week - or even two!
