Description from owner

A 200 year old cottage which has recently been modernized and redecorated. Perfectly situated in the older quiet part of Padstow it is still within a few minutes walking distance not only of the lively atmospheric harbour but also of all of the restaurants, bars, cafes, pasty shops, art galleries and artisan outlets which the town centre offers. Just down the road a few doors from Paul Ainsworth’s Padstow Town House and approx. 100 metres from the Prideaux Place estate and deer park (you can see the deer from one of our bedrooms!) you really are ideally positioned. Beach walks, rock pools, ferries across the estuary to Rock are all similarly only minutes’ walk away.

Unusually for Padstow, the cottage has it's own garage and off road parking space for a standard sized car. There is a lovely private rear courtyard area, with a patio set for sitting out in the sun or dining/drinking into the warm evenings. If you want varied people watching there is also a smaller seating area at the front, in the “High street”.

Getting around

A car is good but not essential as there is a regular bus service and there are also bicycle hire shops at the start of the camel trail which starts in Padstow and ends in Bodmin, which is a great cycle, full of natural beauty. Padstow and it’s surrounding area is walkers paradise with miles of beaches and also the South West Coast Path.

Interaction with guest

I live only 2 miles from the cottage and I'm happy for anyone to phone me about any problems they may have in the cottage or even advice about the area. If I can in any way help to make your holiday easier and more enjoyable, I will do my best to make it so.

“A wonderful staycation”

Our first visit to Cornwall and we weren’t disappointed. The cottage is so well equipped and comfortable and couldn’t be in a better position in Padstow . The added bonus of having off street parking and a garage just makes it even better. Would definitely stay here again if we return to Padstow

Response from the owner Thank you for your glowing review.

Nice well-equipped cottage in the heart of Padstow. Big enough for six of us. Managed to squeeze two cars (including a people-carrier) behind the house.

Yet another great stay at Betty’s. This lovely house continues to be the perfect place for our annual Padstow fix. Long may it continue.

Response from the owner I’m glad you enjoyed your stay.

“Gem in Padstow”

Reviewed 12 Sep 2020

We had a lovely stay at Betty’s cottage. It is located right in the centre of Padstow. It was a very short wander to get pastries and coffee for breakfast in the morning (highly recommend Cherry Tree and the Cornish Bakery). The photos definitely don’t do it justice. The courtyard gardens (back and front) in particular were much bigger than we were expecting and were great sun traps. It comes with parking which is a rarity in central Padstow and means you don’t have to negotiate the rammed car parks. The owner was really helpful and quick to respond to questions, providing highchair and cot bed if needed. The bottle of wine on arrival was a lovely touch. In relation to Covid 19 we felt very safe. Lots of hand sanitiser, soap and tissues in every room. With clear instructions on where to leave used bedding and towels so they could be cleaned thoroughly. Only word of warning is be careful when parking. One of the neighbours parked on the double yellow lines opposite the garage meaning it was very difficult getting out on the last day. Not the owners fault at all but definitely recommend reversing into the garage. We definitely plan to return!

Response from the owner Thank you for the kind review. As you say, it can be awkward ( but not impossible) when someone decides to park on the double yellow lines opposite the garage. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay.

“Lovely house & great location.”

I would highly recommend this house. It had everything we needed especially the little touches for the children, like plastic plates for the beach. Its in a great location on the best side of town.

Response from the owner Thanks for your review.
