Description from owner

Description

La Maison d'Anna is a charming house in the picturesque village of St Sulpice sur Cele in the Lot region, south west France. The house is typical of the area situated on a quiet single lane which leads from the church to the river valley road. The house has a delightful terraced garden. Accommodation is on two levels. The first floor, accessed from the top of the stone steps from the garden, comprises the kitchen, dining room, and living room. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The main bedroom has a comfortable kingsize bed and an adjacent bathroom. The second bedroom has two single beds. The main bathroom, adjacent to the second bedroom has a bath, shower, a washbasin and toilet. The kitchen has a Miele electric oven, a large gas hob, a double sink, a kettle, washing machine and a fridge/freezer. We love cooking, the kitchen is very well equipped. The dining room has a large fireplace with wood burning stove, a dining table and chairs. The living room has a sofa, an armchair, a double futon sofa bed, and a wood burning stove. The lower ground floor/basement is used for storing bicycles, outdoor garden furniture and garden tools and the Weber barbecue. The secluded front garden has lovely views and ample space for dining.

We have someone clean the house and make the beds in-between lets and we ask that you strip the beds leaving the linen in the basket in the basement and empty all rubbish bins, fridge/freezer and leave the house tidy. If there are guests arriving the day you depart you can leave the garden furniture outside. I will let you know. We have a key safe. We ask that you use this safe each time you leave the house. Long term lets are welcome and we will consider installing a phone line/internet and television if necessary.

The village is on the pilgrimage walk The Way of St James the GR 651 Le Puy to Santiago. Minimum stay is 7 days.

“Home-from-home with outstanding communication from owner”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2014

Where to start? Myself plus my wife, two-year-old son and parents-in-law enjoyed a perfect week in August, and would recommend the property to anyone. Stylish, spacious, cosy, jaw-droppingly well-equipped and in a beautiful location, the cottage had us spellbound from the outset. Perhaps as importantly, the communication and flexibility of the owner, Michele, was also exemplary - she was incredibly helpful both before, during and after, and even let us stay an extra night with no worries. The cottage is gorgeous: a vision of old stone and wood, decked out in luxurious vintage country style inside. It's precisely the kind of holiday home one dreams of owning! Every room is generously stocked with home comforts - everything is taken care of: from the wonderful kitchen and its vast arrays of cookbooks, condiments and pans; to the impressive bookshelves packed with literary classics and games; to the neat cellar with its bikes, boules and BBQ. We enjoyed staying in as much as going out! The garden was a lovely place to eat, drink and relax, with nearby walks and stunning views - and several exquisite villages a stone's throw away. We cannot speak any more highly of this idyllic retreat. Enjoy!

“Inspiring location and comfortable character property made for an excellent holiday base.”

Reviewed 8 Sep 2014

A great scenic location with memorable landscapes - viewed through property's windows. Well appointed and creative interior. Plenty of outdoor activities locally - especially if you like swimming and canoeing - or want to try out your potential! A selection of good restaurants, shops and markets within easy reach of the cottage. Great selection of cook books if you want to experiment with local produce and cuisine. We would love to return!

“The perfect French retreat”

Reviewed 7 Mar 2014

I've been meaning to say how much we enjoyed our stay at la Maison d 'Anna. So many highlights - the midday dips in the river at the bottom of the lane, the wonderful walks up on the causse and along the valley, canoeing escapades, wandering in charming Figeac, frequenting friendly eateries in nearby Marcilhac, and not forgetting the garden (perfect for sitting out in during the cool of the evening), the thoughtfully restored house with its splendid views from the upstairs bedroom, and perhaps the best cottage kitchen in the world (certainly the best collection of cookery books!). Also there is far less bustle in this bit of the Lot region even in the height of the summer holidays (a far cry from much of the Dordogne which can get like Piccadilly Circus). The owner was off-site but always very responsive. I am recommending La Maison d'Anna to everyone.

“Lovely house and beautiful location”

Reviewed 7 Mar 2014

La Maison D'Anna is a near perfect French holiday house - a lovely rustic kitchen with lots of cooking equipment, a large, bright sitting room with a beautiful view, and the most fantastic bedroom - the bed is huge! The outside space is comfortable and pretty, and you can easily walk to the river and the village swimming pool.
