Description from owner

Description

Don't just visit Dublin, experience Dublin in any of our 4 unique and original apartments. We have named our apartments after Irish nationalist leaders to reflect our location in the historic Kilmainham/Inchicore area of Dublin.

Come and stay in this stunning one bedroom Victorian period apartment on a tree lined, leafy residential street in the historical Kilmainham/Inchicore district of Dublin 8. The apartment itself is made up of a large open plan living room with a fully equipped kitchen. The apartment is a one bedroom but comfortably sleeps five with a double and single bed in the bedroom and a double pull out sofa bed in the living room.

There is a large bathroom with twin basins and a power shower that is perfect after a long day sightseeing in Dublin Town.

As a base, it could not be more perfect for those wishing to visit the sites of Dublin. Just a short walk from Kilmainham Gaol and IMMA, where one can commence the Dubline, Dublin Discovery Trail. Close to Phoenix Park, and the must-see Dublin institution the Guinness Brewery in the Liberties! The great public transport links will take you to the heart of town in a mere 15 minutes. Yet the peaceful nature of Tyrconnell Raad will ensure a calm place to retreat back to after a long day of sightseeing. Relax in these beautiful surroundings and experience what it is like to live as a true Dubliner!

Homely, clean, spacious and carefully furnished, your stay here will be one of luxury. Warm and welcoming, the flat boasts high ceilings, oak flooring, and an array of classic Victorian architectural details. The large bay window pours sunlight into the glorious reception room. Enjoy a meal at the dining table in the bay window overlooking the world go by. Snuggle up on the sofa with a good book, or relax in front of the tv. On a cold winter’s night, enjoy the warmth and glow of the open fire.

The apartment is fully equipped with all the conveniences of the modern world! super-speed wifi internet, automatic central heating, washing machine and clothes dryer, steam iron and ironing board, and a fully equipped kitchen, complete with fridge, hob, oven and dishwasher. Towels and bed linen are also provided, and for those longer stays, a complementary weekly cleaning service and bed linen change is offered.

The benefit of staying in a Dublin ‘village’ such as Inchicore, is that you have all amenities collected in one area, and right on your doorstep too. A two minute stroll down the road from the apartment is an array of local supermarkets, independent restaurants, traditional pubs, and all the ameneties one requies should you wish to unwind away from the city centre. The area is not short of green open spaces and woodlands too with the War Memorial Gardens just a 10 minute stroll and the Grand Canal with swans a plenty . For a bit of culture there are fringe theatres close by, such as Vicar St.

Dublin is a vibrant city encompassing far more than just the tourist central area of the Temple Bar and the City. Away from the heart of the capital many of the old villages engulfed by the tide of urban expansion have survived to form fascinating and attractive suburbs. Inchicore is one of these, and adjoining this is Kilmainham the location of much of Irelands historic journey to independence. A visit to these local areas can really complement a trip to Dublin.

Arriving from abroad, Dublin airport is a direct bus ride to Heuston Staion (Dublin's main train staion), and from there, a short trip on the Luas (Dublin's Tram)which makes it the easiest and cheapest to get here.

Being only 10 minutes away from Heuston Railway Station, makes getting to and from oither parts of Ireland super quick and easy. We have secure onsite parking to the rear at no extra charge and free WIFI. For your added convenience we have a cell phone available by request.

Well, if any of the above sounds like it could be exactly what you would like to get out of a trip to Dublin, check my online calendar, see if the price is right for your budget, and get in touch. I look forward to having you stay at Tigh Tirconaill apartments.....

“Looks online to be bigger and more luxurious that it really is.”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2018

The apartment is nicely furnished, but much smaller than it appears to be. There were very few instructions, and it was difficult to figure out how to operate the washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, … More

Response from the owner Thank you for taking the time to review our apartment. We are pleased you found the furnishings to your liking. We do however take exception to some of the comments. We have a very detailed manual with instructions for the heating, hot water etc, and indeed, we also send this by email prior to our guest arriving. The heating system is very simple to operate and we have two forms of heating the water. We have taken the trouble to photograph the heating switches and have translated the instructions into several languages. We also respectfully ask our guest not to interfere with the heating system, but unfortunately, we found it disabled after your stay and had to call for a plumber. We send explicit directions on how to reach us from the airport, but I do remember that you missed your turn and we then spent a long time directing you over the phone as you had gotten lost. This is very understandable when driving in a strange city at night time without a sat nav or google maps, and in the dark, however, I do feel it is unfair to blame it on us and we did everything in our power to assist you. We also had a meet and greet on arrival without any extra charge, even though it was late at night. Both Tim and Valerie were on hand during your stay to provide any assistance if needed. However, you did not request the same. The size of our apartment is clearly stated and is quite ample for a family of 5 on vacation. Should our prospective guest require more space, we have a larger unit available if necessary. We hope you enjoyed your visit to Dublin.

Response from the owner Thank you for your review. We are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay in our "Michael Collins" apartment. Noise is not normally an issue, but due to it being the Christmas period, we had two families who were related staying in the different apartments, and the children were quite young and excited to be together. We hope it didn't intrude too much on your enjoyment.

“Nice apartment in blue collar neighborhood”

Response from the owner Thank you for your review and we appreciate you taking the time to point out some things that may need addressing such as the curtains not exactly falling off the rail as stated, but unfortunately, some guest were a little rough pulling them, and because it is such a large window, the curtains are quite heavy and the rail has been damagaed. The comment re; the shower is unfair as it is the modern style low level shower tray with the glass wet room panels and as such, does not take a door. That would be a matter of personal choice re; the enclosure and obviously was not to your taste but many other guests have loved it. We are pleased you found the apartment comfortable and spacious and hope we will welcome you back again some time in the future.
