Description from owner

Description

This classically elegant 19th century period property was formerly a wine domaine but will now seduce you with its secluded walled garden and indoor swimming pool, which can be heated to your request, Located in the wine producing village of Olonzac in the heart of the Languedoc, you'll find a great selection of cafes, restaurants and shops nearby plus - naturally - the opportunity to taste some of the local wines.

Perhaps the most amazing thing about this lovely house is that despite being situated right in the centre of a thriving village, the house and garden are completely secluded and tranquil; almost no noise penetrates into the garden and you are totally un-overlooked.

This lovely property is ideal for those who want to experience rural French village life, but still want a choice of activities. It is situated in the centre of Olonzac but is remarkably private and secluded. In the summer, the garden is a bower of flowers that buzz with the hum of bees. Stretch out and relax in the wonderful hammock, or take a refreshing afternoon tea beneath the wisteria pergola. Upstairs is a terrace almost completely covered with fragrant jasmine and which makes another delightful spot to sit and enjoy the tranquillity of the location. The garden is ideal for children, with high walls and gates providing a great deal of privacy for the large Mediterranean courtyard and outbuildings. The landscaped garden has mature plants, flowers and trees, in particular two magnificent plane trees which offer lovely shade for eating outdoors near the large barbecue area - which looks absolutely stunning when it's lit up at night. Lockable, sliding glass doors lead from the garden to the indoor pool and on top of the barn you'll find a superb roof terrace with views over the village. Step out of the house gates and you'll be in the village! Just a mile away is the Lac de Jouarres - it's worth a visit for the scenery alone, but you'll also find opportunities for windsurfing, kayaking, boating, fishing and other watersports fromits shores. This is also the nearest beach for swimming. For sea swimming, the Mediterranean is about 40 minutes away where Narbonne Plage greets you with endless vistas of golden sand to play or relax upon.

Guests are welcomed by Claire the house-keeper with a lovely hamper of local produce. We are looking forward to making your stay at Maisondelabotte a very memorable one.
