“Beautiful, well-maintained property”

Reviewed 24 Sep 2018

This is a beautiful, well-maintained property overlooking Lake Bolsena. The house sits on a large lot with lots of green space and nice gardens. It is quite private and has a view down over farm field… More

“Perfect in every way!”

Reviewed 28 Sep 2015

I'm actually reluctant to say how good this property is for fear that it will get too busy! My husband and I stayed here for a week from 19th - 26th September and we absolutely loved it. The house is newly built to an extremely high standard is beautifully and thoughtfully decorated, comfortable and very well maintained. The house itself is quite remote and you definitely need a car to make the very most of the surrounding areas. Lake Bolsena is as advertised only 500m away from the front gate of the house and wow - what an absolutely stunning place. Peace and tranquility reigned supreme here - it is as close to nature as you could possibly imagine surrounded by agricultural land and small farms. Totally unspolit and not 'touristy' in the slightest. There are a few small restaurants along the banks of the lake within 2 km of the house but all were closed as the season had ended when we were there. This wasn't a problem for us in the slightest and just added to the peaceful holiday which we loved. The lake is wonderfully clear and perfect for swimming, the lakeside path fabulous if you like walking/running as we do. Marathon training doesn't get much better than this! I would absolutely recommend this property if you like peace and quiet and to get away from it all. We loved it and have already booked again for next year!

“Great house, great pool, somewhat remote location, but wonderfull facilities”

Reviewed 9 Sep 2015

We rented this house for a fortnight. We did not know exactly what to expect, but it totally exceeded our expectations. The house itself is great and big enough for a extended family. It includes air-conditioning, which is great for those hot Italian nights. All amenities were included, except for the electricity. The facilities on the area were great. A fantastic pool, which was cleaned every two days and a large garden. There was space enough to sit or relax on the property. The location was somewhat remote. There were no stores of places in the near area. But we came by car, so we could visit stores and places in the neighborhood. In the evening there were a lot of mosquitoes. That's something to keep in mind. There were no surprises, it really looked like the pictures on the website!

“the perfect cottage overlooking lake bolsena”

Reviewed 14 Jul 2015

Agriturismo Marela is a perfect, carefully thought out cottage, with two bedrooms and a sleeping loft . The open plan living room/kitchen/dining area was bright and airy not to mention pleasantly air conditioned throughout. The house is probably best suited for a couple or small family. It might be a touch small for a multi-family gathering. The interior reminded us of a cross between French provincial and Swedish country style with bleached wood timbers and pale colors which added to the feeling of everything being so fresh and clean! The house is situated on a gently sloping hill so you catch the morning breeze. The views of the nearby olive groves, grazing sheep and the lake are simply amazing, all in harmony with the rustic farm surroundings and natural beauty of Lake Bolsena. The owner of the house is an architect who lovingly designed the property to perfection choosing just the right spot to situate all of the elements. The pool also has terrific views and is very private. Be sure to pick fruit from the young, but bountiful orchard! The entire property feels secluded as there is no development nearby and is one of the uniquely authentic benefits of staying in this area in general. The kitchen was well equipped with almost everything a serious cook could want. They didn’t have a knife block when we arrived and a full set of brand new chef’s knives appeared the following day. There was no microwave but we were happy not to use one for a week. I think if we would have asked, one would have arrived straight away. There are several restaurants within a 10 minute drive. While we shopped and cooked for ourselves most nights (the supermarket was 15 minutes away in Bolsena), the owners helped us arrange a chef to prepare a lavish meal with local specialties one night - it was a delicious experience. If you go, be sure to walk a few minutes down the road to the local farm stand run by Franca who has the most beautiful and delicious vegetables and herbs, grown by her and her husband right behind the stand. If you're lucky, she'll even give you a quick tour of her prized acres. It's the ultimate 'farm to table' experience. The air conditioning kept the house cool and the wifi worked well. The satellite TV was mostly Italian with some English language news stations only. The owners of this property are friendly and very accommodating. We had a very restorative visit and have already booked a return trip for next year!
