THE HOUSE

The house is situated on an acre of land in a park-like setting surrounded by the vineyards of the Entre Deux Mers, part of the Bordeaux wine region in south west France. The 17th century stone house has been completely restored and furnished to a very high standard with all the modern conveniences. The house consists of a large living room, mezzanine, separate dining room, gourmet kitchen and two bedrooms. Each bedroom has antique furnishings; one with a queen size bed, and the second with a double bed, and a daybed that can accommodate two people. The main bathroom has two sinks, a large, claw foot tub, a large stall shower and W.C. The two half bathrooms add the comfort of additional sinks and W.C.'s. The gourmet kitchen has a large gas stove, two door fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave oven. It is completely equipped with all the necessary utensils and small appliances. There is a gas BBQ and outdoor furniture to enjoy summer meals on the terrace overlooking the hillside vineyards. A second fridge, washer and dryer are located in the laundry room. The computer, DVD player and sound systems are available for use, and WIFI is accessible throughout the house. The house is fully equipped with all amenities. Linens are provided and all utilities are included. Weekly and monthly rentals are available.

THE REGION

The region is home to some of the top wine chateaux in France, and is well serviced by the cities of Bordeaux, a UNESCO world heritage site, and the medieval town of Bergerac; both of which are within a forty-five minute drive. The historic villages of Perigueux, Les Eysies, Beynac and Sarlat as well as the caves depicting the life of Cro Magnum man are less than two hours away. The historic, market town of Castillon la Bataille, site of the last battle of the hundred years war, is five minutes away and filled with a full range of shops and services. Each summer a cast of 300 actors and 70 horses re-enact the battle in full period costume. The beautiful recreation area of Lac la Cadie is also less than five minutes from the house. The area consists of over 100 acres of lake, walking trails, picnic sites, boat rentals and lakeside dining. The region is filled with historic, hillside villages that host weekly farmers markets filled with local foods and gifts. Music concerts, wine events, night markets and antique fairs are held regularly throughout the area.
