“Perfection!”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2014

We had such a fabulous time in the Mutley Gite. The GIte was perfectly appointed, modern mixed with great charm and designed with fabulous style and a great eye to detail. The Lawes family were really welcoming and were on hand to help us with anything we needed to know. They have a fabulous dog called Balloo who wanders around and kept my daughter entertained for hours and she was tickled pink to play with him. All in all I couldn't have wished for a nicer Gite, close enough to some lovely villages and towns yet quiet enough to be utterly relaxing. Thank you!

“The ultimate in relaxing getaway”

Reviewed 2 Aug 2013

My wife, son George (nearly 3) and I recently stayed in the Hopkins Gite. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by Will and Karen (owners), who provided an in depth tour allowing us to become quickly acquainted with everything we needed to know. The Gite itself was spacious, spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated with every amenity you could need in a home away from home. Care had been taken to ensure that the accommodation was as welcoming for a toddler as it was for adults, with excellent safety precautions around the lovely pool. The grounds were immaculately maintained by Will, and the surrounding countryside and villages were idyllic. George was a little poorly on arrival, and when we expressed some concern Will and Karen couldn't have been more helpful and understanding. Karen took us into the nearby town the following day to visit an English speaking doctor, and stayed with us to ensure we knew exactly what to do. Nearby attractions included Lac St Ferriol, which had loads to do and was very family friendly, and Carcasonne which is a 'Knight' loving toddlers paradise. Despite these and much, much more being close at hand, our favourite family days were spent pottering around Chateau Montoussel, relaxing in the hammocked garden, messing around in the refreshing pool or simply setting off on a nature walk in the adjoining fields. Perhaps the best review comments I can give is that George, not one for hiding his criticisms, keeps asking if we 'can go back to Will's holiday home'

“Quality gite, tranquil setting, friendly owners.”

Reviewed 1 Nov 2012

Very welcoming. The owners Will and Karen live onsite and are extremely helpful with local information, recommending restaurants, directions etc. Beautifully converted barn with all amenities you could wish for. Comfortable beds, quality bedlinen and towels. Swimming pool was very nice but not heated-a little cold in October although the weather was beautiful and warm. Excellent location, very peaceful, but not far from lots of little towns and pictuesque villages. Very well maintained gite and spotlessly clean.

“It was the perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy the stunning”

Reviewed 6 Sep 2012

I stayed here for a week with my husband and our children. Despite having 4 young boys, we like to stay somewhere that offers a really nice standard of accommodation ... and that's exactly what we got! The bedrooms, beds and bedding were extremely comfortable and very elegant. The kitchen was well equipped. The bathroom was somewhat limiting with just a shower but it was absolutely clean and was nicely designed (it was like a wet room) The kitchen was smart looking and well equipped. We loved having all the British TV stations... a real treat. The communal pool was very attractive and well maintained. The owner and his family were most welcoming and helpful. My only criticism was with the charcoal BBQ. Maybe a communal gas BBQ might be a consideration for the future. We'd love to return to the chateau and to the area.

“comfortable and relaxing”

Reviewed 6 Sep 2012

This was a beautiful gite with most welcoming english hosts on-site , for whom nothing was too much trouble. The gite was well-appointed , english tv being a great bonus for watching the Tour de France, and the beds were comfortable. The pool was lovely, and we spent most of our time there, but , as it was unheated it wasn't conducive to lengthy spells in the water. We found the immediate vicinity a little uninspiring but our trip to the pyrenees was fantastic.

“Perfect rural getaway”

Reviewed 20 Jul 2012

This was a perfect rural getaway spot, living up to the advertisements we'd seen. The gite itself was beautifully finished and maintained and the pool a perfect size - and also kept in first class order. The welcome and support was warm and natural and the sense of belonging immediate. Some of this comes from the thoughtful and informative phone and email contact from the owners pre-arrival. This personalised our stay nicely. It is rural so I'd say a hire car is pretty essential for accessing the local amenities - although the routing to everything is easy. This was a very peaceful break.

“Fantastic and Beautiful”

Reviewed 5 Oct 2011

My family and I stayed in the Hopkins Gite and had the most amazing stay. The Gite was spotless and furnished beautifully. It was a real home from home and was perfect for us as we were not able to go out in the evenings as we had a toddler who would never sit still in a restaurant. Therefore we had many evenings in the gite and it was just perfect. It was comfortable and had everything you needed. We had a lovely decked area outside with tables and chairs and a small bbq. The area outside was lovely once the children were in bed, you could sit outside and enjoy the silence with a glass of wine. I would highly recommend staying at any of the gites. Will and Karen have worked very hard to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable.
