Description
Ferme La Colline d'Or, is a 260 year old former winery situated in the middle of the Cognac region. Perfect for families with children, with its big enclosed garden, swimming pool and games room, TV and internet (WiFi). the house sleeps up to 12 people. It is part of a small “Hameau” Le pontreau, at 8 km from the old Roman city Saintes Here you find daily markets famous for its huge choice of fresh seafood , its vegetables , fruits and cheeses and you find there too special Asian and north African food and spice sellers..
The area is well known for its microclimate . The farm is located on 4000sqm garden. A big part of the garden is enclosed and therefor safe for children. There are many terraces to sit in the sun or shade. The house borders a vineyard, farmland and forest.There is a big(100sqm) heated (if necessary) swimming pool. Downstairs there are two double rooms, a bathroom a toilet and space for an extra bed or cot. Also a sitting room with fireplace and a large kitchen/dining room with all facilities and a back room with freezer, fridge and washing machine. You can go upstairs there to a games room with TV and pool-table which looks out on the kitchen.
Upstairs there are a double room, a single room a big sleeping room with two single and a double bed, and an extra room without window with two single beds. There are two bathrooms with showers and toilets. In the front garden you find a small guest-house with a double bed, shower and toilet. Beside this house you find an extra outside toilet. There is a big building across the house with a table tennis room and storage room for wood. Part of this building is closed (private).
The environment is excellent for hiking, horse-riding Two beautiful golf courses , Saintes and cognac,are at 10 and 16 km. In the nearby charming villages, St Sauvant and Dompierre, you can play tennis . Horse riding is at 1,5km. There is a famous Canoeing club in Dompierre. There you can book canoeing trips on the Charente or in the very beautiful marshes of the Seugne, all the way to Pons.

“Wonderful relaxed traditional French farmhouse”
What a perfect retreat, to escape and unwind. The character of this property is very homely and is what you expect of a French farmhouse among sunflower fields and vineyards. The pictures do not do it justice. The amount of space is ample for 2 families to spread out in with quiet corners and amazing pool with sun all day. Every convenience is catered for with the kitchen being well equipped with 2 fridges, large cooker and storage area. The pool table with comfy L shaped sofa was a hit with the children, and the brick built barbecue next to large vine covered outdoor table great to while away a summer evening with a glass of local wine. Just wonderful, thank you.
